Excellent Service after an Issue

We chose this machine to complete our set of Frigidaire kitchen appliances (we have the matching fridge and oven). I like its sturdy metal interior and high-volume capacity, but was disappointed at first that my dishes weren't getting cleaned even after 2 or 3 wash cycles. An approved Frigidaire repairman ended up diagnosing that its motor was stuck in low, making the water pressure insufficient to even turn the washing arm. He replaced the motor and took the time to go over proper machine maintenance, told us to make sure the water is hot prior to starting a wash cycle to ensure the soap dissolves properly, and to always use a rinse agent for best results. We've seen a dramatic improvement. Since the repair, the machine has worked perfectly and, given its sturdy metal construction, it should serve us for many years.

Some good features

I agree with some of the other posts. Bottom rack is extremely wobbly and feels very cheap. I found out that the only way the dishes will come out totally dry is to use the Sanatize button. I do like the finish which is extremely easy to clean and the dishwasher is super quiet.

Quiet

We purchased this dishwasher to replace the 9 year old Gallery we had previously. The unit is very quiet. However, it does not dry well on the normal settings, which is admitted in the included literature. The salesman did warn me about this and blamed it on the need to achieve greater energy efficiency. We tend to not use the higher temperature cycles so it seems to always be wet inside even when we skip using it for a few days. The plastic gaskets that attach to the sides to make the installation look neater did not stay on despite seeming very sticky. I finally threw them out after they fell off for the fourth time. I am still getting used to the racks which don't seem to accommodate the dishes as well as the older model did. I have nothing to compare this to so I can't really conclude if it is a good model or not. Time will tell. I will be happy in the long run if it lasts at least 12 years.

Amazing: it sometimes works.

I had an older model from Frigidaire and it had a broken hose so I upgraded to a fully lined energy efficient model. In less than a year I've had a technician out 3 times to fix the unit. It still doesn't clean the dishes. There is always grit left on glasses and the compartment that holds the cleaner may or may not release. the cycles run very long and I usually have to run them twice since the dishes are rarely cleaned after one. This product is an endorsement for hand washing dishes.

Hello Tallyman13. We greatly appreciate you sharing this detailed quality and design concerns on your dishwasher, model FGID2474QF. We have listed below a few tips you may find helpful with the occurrences you have shared. • Run the faucet closest to the dishwasher prior to starting the dishwasher to purge cold water from the hot water line • Rinse aid greatly improves drying, reduces water spots, filming. With rinse aid the water will sheet off dishes rather than forming water droplets that cling and leave spots. • Double check that your dishes are not touching. Fancy cookware can also keep dishes from drying properly. For example, dimples, indents or etching allows water to pool resulting in dishes remaining wet at the end of the cycle; they may require shaking off the water.
Should you continue to experience these concerns please contact us directly. Kindly, Anna

Terrible Design

Rarely have I ever seen a major appliance with such a poor design. Typically it is reliability that will bite you but we chose this Frigidaire because we had a washing machine that lasted over 30 years and this dishwasher highly rated. I don't understand why. The lack of a heating element to dry the dishes was a major mistake. The "motor heat" approach does not work and the dishes are rarely dry. We have to unload the dishwasher with a towel. The rack is difficult to load to get good dish drainage, especially pots and bowls. Pots and bowls often have food and residue even if they drain properly, and they are wet, of course. The utensil basket has horizontal grids that retain water, there is soap residue on the door after a wash, and there is a puddle of water on the bottom that will smell before running the next load (yes we clean the filter). By the way we had it serviced so I really don't think there is anything wrong with it. We thought we could transition it over to our upcoming kitchen remodel but we are getting rid of it. We don't want it even though it is brand new and I would feel guilty selling it to someone! It is quiet though.
