Quality of output is not what I expect

I have bought at least 5-7 Epson printers thru the years. Actually when the quality of this printer wasn't what I needed on a job I plugged in my epson xp-610 which I wanted to move to another office. I wanted the 2550 because I go thru a ton of ink when i'm doing layouts. However, I have yet to figure out why the image quality is sub par? The reviews are good - it has to be an adjustment or something I haven't figured out yet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wonderful for price except 1 thing

I hate buying ink cartridges so this printer allows me not to buy them anymore. I give this printer 5* except if you don’t use it for 2/3 days the next time you try to print it comes out blank or with one line.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Clean Printing, Easy set up!

I've been looking at this printer style a while now. I had an Epson Workforce that I liked but every time I turned around I needed ink, and I don't print that much. I guess the cartridges were drying out. I finally took the plunge and bought this one this morning.
First, let me say, set up was easy. Pulled out of the box, took all the tape off, loaded the ink (my recommendation, wear gloves. There is always a chance you'll get some on yourself). The instructions say it can take 20 minutes to charge the ink. I don't think it took that long, but I was busy removing the old printer software just to make sure there were no issues. I wanted a clean install.
Installing and connecting to my network were simple. Once it was charged I had it up and running in less than 10 minutes. (This bodes well as I'm upgrading my computer in the next couple months). The test page was clearer than my old printer ever dreamed of being.
The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was one little annoyance I found. When I inserted the disk, it gave me installation options. I unchecked the boxes for User Guide Link and Customer Research Participation. I don't need a link to the user guide. If I can't find the copy that came with it I'll google it. I am not keen on information being periodically sent without me hitting the send button myself. There is no explanation as to what data is collected, how it sends, or what the research participation entails. However, once the software installed, I noticed that in my applications list on my settings tab is the Customer Research Participation that I did not want installed. I specifically unchecked the box!
