Epson Expresion ET-2550

I have had several printers over my personal and business career. The regular buying of ink cartridges
has bothered me continually. Finally there is a low cost printer after purchase.
I found the set up easy. My laptops and Mac connect smoothly. The quality is better than I expected and the ink usage is as low as advertised.
I have not tried any super large printing jobs yet but for the first 400-500 pages I am overjoyed not buying more expensive and time consumer cartridges. Maybe more companies will follow Epson lead in this area.

Epson Expression ET-2550 EcoTank™ All-in-One Print

This printer is great. The print quality is as good as any. PPM is a little slow but I'm not a volume print user and usually not in a hurry. Quality, dependability, and cost are my major concerns. The large relatively inexpensive ink bottles were the main reason for purchasing this printer. The other printers ink was so expensive that I would go more than a year without a printer. Heck...several years! My son and my daughter have printers that are without ink. And without ink they can't even fax because they can't get passed the error screen. Very frustrating. It's like being held hostage.
There is one thing I wish this printer had, an illuminated Wi-Fi indication on the control panel. Other than that I'm hoping for a good, lasting relationship with this printer.
I will be going out and purchasing more ink so as to always have a supply on hand.

I love the fact that the printer has "tanks" for the ink, makes it very nice. I am not very impressed with the fact that the print options do not give you more paper choices and output quality for color photographs and or artwork; but I haven't owned it very long and hopefully it will grow on me. I am just used to having "high quality" print options. I do love the ink tanks; that is the reason I bought it in the first place. For the price, tho, I was expecting better print quality.

Saved on ink, frustration with ui and connectivity

The ECO friendly purpose of the printer is on spot. Saved lots on ink, less waste, better for the environment which are the main reasons we bought it.
The user interface of the printer is minimal and requires many trips between it and the devices it is connected with for printing and scanning to work. This is annoying with one device alone; it becomes enfuriating when trying to print from any device in a many device household like ours.
I never got "Scanning to computer" (pdf, jpg, email) to work. The only one that did was "scanning to computer (WSD)", but it has to be selected severial times until it finds the correct computer to scan to.
It also gets disconnected from the network any time it goes into sleep mode which requieres a reboot cycle; annoying and time consuming.
I stated that I would not recommend this product to a friend, but the caveat is that only if they are not tech saavy. If they are tech saavy, they will be able to overcome the issues encountered having only their time wasted by whatever issue they are trying to overcome.
I'm willing to bet that most of the issues can be resolved with a better user interface on the device and with a better set of user manual instructions.
I myself am very tech savy and still have difficulties using this product in a normal way.

large tanks great but frequent clogs are not

I use this usually a few times a week, but the print heads get clogged often. So I end up doing clean cycles (usually it takes 2 or 3 attempts) to fix it.
One thing that would be an improvement would be to have an option that would only clean the clogged colors. Sometimes there is only one color clogged, but the clean cycle cleans (and wastes ink) all 4 print heads.
I do like the large ink capacity and low cost ink.
Print quality is OK.

Ease of Set Up
on January 1, 2016

This Model attracted me because of the PAPER delivery and printing. The more expensive model uses a paper tray and bend the paper for printing. This model back-loads with front access with minimal handling of the paper. Better printing method for CARD STOCK.
U-tube was handy in showing set up - but the enclosed instructions were exceptionally easy. The Instructions come in two languages which benefits the Provence de QUEBEC - with French and English instructions. Selling in major US markets requires SPANISH printed matter. The French is fun to read - but difficult for Spanish readers to comprehend.
The instructions for the crucial initial INK loading are accurate, easy to understand and easy to follow and proved effective.
The ink canisters fill the reservoirs completely and every drop of ink finds a home. BE CARE IN THE COLORS - Pre-Arrange your bottles in order of filling.
The SD Card function is exceptional as the CARD loads immediately unlike on PC's. Pictures print exactly as taken by the camera. Purchase of this printer just to make hard copies of all your photos on digital media is easy and recommended.
Wireless set up was easy, as long as you read, understand and follow the prompts. ALL SET-UP Phases needed in getting the printer ready are quick for the most part - just follow instructions.
THIS is a marvelous PRINTER for home business use and you never really have to worry all that much about printing a lot as the old expensive CARTRIDGES are finally gone THANKS to the EPSON ECO-line of printers - they are the wave of the future and should capture the most of the printer market share in the year 2016 and beyond.

Great printer, but...

I would give this 5 stars IF it didn't constantly jam the paper. It takes a very long time to clear any paper jam. The paper is easily removed, but getting the printer to reset and print again takes several minutes.

paper handling

love the concept of this printer - however -- while it works well with plain paper, it has major difficulties when working with photo paper -- at times I have had to stand at the printer and help feed the paper into the printer - even tried single sheet feeding -- at times just will not pull the photo paper into the feed rollers ---
