My Epson ET 2550

I am enjoying this printer. I get the quality I expected in my photos. I also like the fact the it is smaller than previous models and it performs smoothly all my printing jobs. The eco tanks are a great relief since I can print a lot more for less. I have been using the printer for about three weeks and have printed about 100 4x6 photos and the tanks are barely signaling that ink has been used.

Plugged nozzles

I like the printer in all respects except, after having it less than 6 months the black print nozzles became hopelessly clogged. I've burned a bottle of ink power flushing to no avail. It counteracts the claimed benefit of economical ink usage. I would give the printer your highest rating if not for this problem. Before the nozzles became clogged I printed photos that exceeded the quality of my other printers.

Install was less than Stellar.

The setup and install started out as a breeze; then came the Software Install. That's where the problems began. I'm not exactly a computer "Geek", but, I have been able to get threw most installations when it comes to computer hardware and software. I tried following the instructions four times without success. I finally gave up on the install, I closed everything down and left it. Later, when I needed to check some other files on my laptop and noticed that it was installing files without any prompting from me. When I checked into what it was doing I found that the "uninstalled files" for the printer drivers had now been installed and the printer was in fact now working.
When I originally gave up I was going to blame COMCAST/XFINITY for the problem in that I'd received a "New" router that had 2.4hz and 5hz; when I switched back to the 5hz Wifi was when the mystery solved itself. My deduction, restart your computer before completely giving up.

Not sure

I purchased this product in Sept., for business/personal home use. Starting in April I began to see lines in the printed words that used the black ink. (It was not professional quality and looked cheap.) I ran all the head cleanings/alignments and it didn't work. Customer Service wanted me to drain all the ink and purchase new ink to fill, b/c is was possible the feeds were dry/clogged. Since the ink is supposed to last up to 2 years. I asked if they would send me new ink. Instead they exchanged the printer. We shall see if the same thing happens again. If it works this is a brilliant printer/concept, if not...back to the drawing board Epson.

problem with alignment & nozzle cleaning

After owning the ET-2550 Expression for approx. 6 months, I'm finding the print quality gradually is lost and I'm NOT a "heavy" print user. I've gone thru the clean nozzle steps repeatedly but results are little to no improvement. The ink reservoir levels are almost unused except for the black which is approx. 1/4 used from the reservoir. Aside from printing volumes daily, is there a secret to maintaining print quality?

One annoying problem
on December 4, 2015

Overall the printer performs well. It was easy to set up. The copying and scanning functions work fine. The print quality is good. The main purpose in buying this model was for the Eco Tank and while I'm already halfway through the black reservoir, I've barely dented the color ones so I'm pleased with this function. There is one annoying problem I've encountered; the printer doesn't take specialty paper well. Specifically, I have found when trying to print smooth-surfaced paper, the feeder will either not take it or send it all the way through without printing. Therefore I would only recommend this if you plan to print standard paper projects.

Disappointing Print/Scan Quality
on May 30, 2016

Scanning an image and printing it resulted in a dull and poor quality copy. I tried using default settings, 300, 600, and 1200dpi but all results were trash, the colors just aren't vibrant and the scan quality was really poor. Even when printing a scanned image from a high quality scanner, it printed dull, pixelated, and with hash like patterns where gradients should be

After learning of Epson's plan to introduce a new generation of printers in an article that appeared in the financial pages of the Wall Street Journal.. I signed up immediately to be notified of ET-2550 EcTank release date. Once notified by Epson of its availability I ordered one right away. When it arrived I was impressed of the quality of the printer and the ease of setting it up. I have have printed over 200 high quality pages and was blown away by the way this printer prints. Thank you Epson !
Buy this printer ! ,,you won't be disappointed and finally,,, you can say goodbye to those high price ink refills and hello to the next generation of printers led by the Epson company.
