Epson ET-2550

After three weeks of light usage I have the following to report. First be aware that two-sided printing requires that you manually flip the paper. The printer does give instructions on which way to flip. I've printed 6 page documents and it did it right, as long as I followed the instructions. When filling the ink tanks, be careful and have some plastic or newsprint under the immediate area. It does print quickly and feed the paper quite well. Setup to print via wifi was very simple. Setup for printing from an iPad is also very easy and works well. It does require the Epson app on the iPad. Print quality is good and sharp, but color saturation is not as good as the old printer that died on me. But it's ink was seriously expensive - and the reason we decided to try the Epson.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Epson ET-2550 saves money

I appreciate printing a 200 page project inexpensively compared to the expensive cartridges with a small amount of ink. Using the control panel and cleaning the print heads is not intuitive. The very long manual online is hard to read and follow. Basics like those should be printed and included with the new printer - with step by step instructions. The printer is slower than printers we have had in the past. The cost of the all-in-one printer and its ink is reasonable which is its main feature.

Poor wireless printer

I purchased this printer because I wanted to use it as a wireless network printer. Every time I use it I have reinstall all the drivers and software to get it to work. It will do a couple of print jobs and then I get a message that says the printer is turned off despite the fact that it is not. The only way to get it to work is to start the installation process from start. I would have returned this printer to the place of purchase but I waited to long so now I'm stuck with this useless thing. I'm got to through it out and chalk it up to buyer beware and do more research before I make my purchase.

Great Concept....with a few flaws

The quality and vibrancy is beautiful.....as long as it prints the ENTIRE image. I frequently encounter printouts that leave off quite a bit of the colors, even though the ink levels are full. I cannot run a job more than 20 pages because I run the risk of having poor printouts on expensive photo paper. I have lost a lot of good paper go to waste, and, (once again) .... The ink levels are still normal. I have to constantly stop and run the "clean printer head" and "head alignment" function (sometimes up to 8 cycles) before it will print the missing colors. It also takes a long time to print high quality photos.

easy, so easy. why did we ever have overly priced cartridgesto begin with. Shouldn't this have been the initail way for printers to exist. no mess only success. I've seen CISS systems.... Why bother. DONE

Great Installation

This is one of the easiest installations of a printer I have ever done. also the print quality is outstanding I do a lot of photos and I 'am very happy with the results. As a note when filling the ink tanks I wear plastic gloves and put down 4 or 5 layers of news paper under the printer not because I've had an issue but because with open ink bottles there is always a chance of a spill.

Fast, Efficient, clean machine

Setup - out of the box, this printer is easy to set up. There are in-box instructions that are easy to follow and I was able to get my printer up and running in just about 30 minutes of my attention (there is a waiting period while the printer gets rid of air in the lines for the ink wells, but it alerts you when it's ready to move on to the next step).
Install - as part of set up the installation was pretty hands off. Click a few boxes, enter my info as desired and I was ready to go!! I use the Epson Expression ET-2550 EcoTank™ All-in-One Printer with Windows 10 OS and it works great!
Ink use - I do a lot of printing at home for my small business. I purchased this product because I was sick of buying so much ink!! I'm very impressed with the quality of print outs and how conservative the ink use is! I do mostly gray-scale printing but I'm not afraid of wasting color ink if I let my children print some of their own creations as well.
Speed - This machine is extremely fast relative to my old printer. The Epson Expression ET-2550 EcoTank™ All-in-One Printer prints out 10 pages as quickly as it took my old printer to spit out just 1. I am very happy with this speed increase because it allows me to be more efficient with my time!
Capacity - the paper load capacity is equivalent to my old printer. I use a lot of card stock and the Epson Expression ET-2550 EcoTank™ All-in-One Printer has no problem feeding it through.
Functions - I've used the copy, print, and scan functions. They all work easily. I did have to install some extra software to get the scan function to work - but it is one-click scanning right from my desktop!! I LOVE that feature! There many options when it comes to copying - multiple copies, lighter/darker, etc.
Buttons/screen - so the screen is pretty small so you have to be pretty close to the screen to read what the functions are. The buttons are minimal so there's not a lot you can do right from the printer but once you're used to the read-out and screen, it's easy to maneuver. I would like to see a bigger display with a little more intuitive buttons in the future, but I wouldn't give up the speed and efficiency of the Epson Expression ET-2550 EcoTank™ All-in-One Printer just for a bigger display.

Finally I found a printer that wont find it's way in the "printer graveyard" because I didn't want to buy ink for it. I got tired of spending $$$ on ink or having the generic ink ruin my printer. I have 3 other printers just laying around and they will all visit the garbage can. I hope this will be around for a long time! Prints great and I can print from all devices.
