This is the second of the ET-4550 printers that we have had. The first one wouldn't send or receive faxes, and the company replaced it with a new one. I have found this isn't as easy to configure or to use as other printers I have used. The control panel is confusing and hard to figure out and it's difficult to scroll through in order to do what you want it to do. I personally wouldn't purchase this unit for home use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Super printer with superior printing capabilities

Yes, you pay a bit more for this unit and similar but it is worth it when you go to buy ink.
And one of the other benefits is that this Epson is one of the best printing machines we have had. It is superior for every day printing. In fact, I still marvel at its clarity of print. The best of all the Epsons I have had.

I've used this printer at my work for 2 years ....No issues and I only just had to top up ink! AMAZING VALUE .... so I bought one for my home !

The printer linked easily to my MacBook Air and Windows 10 computers on my wi-fi. Print quality is excellent.

Has lived up to the claims

I'm hitting two years since I purchased the ET-4500. Epson's claims seemed too good to be true, but I gave it a try. I am Soooo glad I did! We have four college age children and between the six of us in the house, we do a good deal of printing. I was so fed up with he cost and the frequency in which I was having I replace the ink cartridges in our old printers, so the ET concept was appealing, to say the least. The ET-4550 has exceeded expectations and has met Epson's claimed specs. I have printed 8000+ mixed pages and judging by the ink levels, should be able to get at least another 3000 prints out of it. The print quality is very good, quite satisfactory for our daily printing needs and a BUNCH less expensive. My only issue is that I prefer being hardwired, while my kids are always on Wi-Fi and for some reason the ET only allows one or the other. So since I'm he odd man out, I have to turn on Wi-Fi to print from my computer. Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of.

Love the ink tanks

I am glad I am free of purchasing expensive ink cartridges. Love that Epson included 2 full size bottles of each color in the box. Set up was easy.

I made the choice to pay up front with the Ecotank.. So far so good.. good quality... and ink replacement is easy... but do wear gloves...Ink costs is reasonable... I think it is worth the higher price to save on per print costs...
