Good By In Cartridges

It is so refreshing to know that your family is never going to call again in a panic that the printer wont print because the ink cartridge is out of ink or even worse the cartridge has expired (Silliest thing I have ever heard). My hat is off to Epson great design simple to set up looking forward to Epson being my printer of choice

WHEN HOOKED UP ITJUST KEEPS PRINTING BLANK SHEETS. CAN ONLY TURN IT OFF DISCONNECTING COMPUTER CABLE OR TURNING OFF PRINTER. WHEN IT TURN OFF PRINTER AND TURN IT BACK ON IT STARTS SPEWING OUT BLANK SHEETS AGAIN! HAD NO PROBLEM WITH MY PREVIOUS ET-4750

Easy To Use

I bought this all-in-one machine to replace an HP all in one (I will never buy another HP product, but that is a topic for a different day). The Epson was easy to set up out of the box. The ink system used in this model is outstanding. The ink containers were easy to fill and there were no spills or wasted ink. The wireless capability is flawless as I have printed docs from all of my devices. The end product is good, although the photos suffer from muted colors. I didn't buy this to make photo prints with so that isn't an issue for me, plus with only three colors and black, you aren't going to get a full color palette anyway. My printer came with an extra set of ink canisters so I'm set for a couple of years. I've has this printer for only a couple of months and have received three firmware updates. This tells me that Epson really wants to make sure I get the most out of my printer, something other companies don't do (HP). Well done Epson!

Epson Keeps Getting Better

Some good, some not so good features.

The good - Ink Tanks - You no longer have to spend $500/gal for ink. The not so good, you pay for the ink up front in the cost of the printer (pay me now or pay now later!) The good is that you don't have to change cartridges and go through the ink loss from the initializing, especially if you let one or more of them go empty and get air in the lines.
The not so good. I have had an XP-820 for several years. Well the ET-4750 is NOT an 820. Basically Epson married an Eco-Tank system with a pretty low level printer. So far it does the basics as well as you should expect, but no real bells and whistles. The real downer is the scan software. The 820 software is great and allows for a lot of flexibility. A lot of the user friendly features were lost with the 4750 software. Really not sure why the older scanner software wasn't allowed to work on this machine. Almost returned the printer because of the scanner software. Decided to find some after market scanner software that is usable. New software is all flash and pretty menus, but little user flexibility. I use the scanner a LOT and that is a big deal for me.
They don't let me do anything but Y or N as to whether or not I would recommend this printer. That is NOT a Y or N question. As far as the ink system, a definite Y, as far as the printer and scanner, you can get a far better printer for 1/4th the cost, but ongoing ink issues and ink cost are a real downer. Note: Actually later in this review, they did give me a 1-10 scale on recommends. Not sure if this scale appears in the published review, so I gave it a 6 and I'll let my comments stand.

Easy to set up

Purchased and works well with MAC computers.
I would recommend adjusting the misleading image of not opening up the ink flap however, the HOW TO VIDEO on youtube was the best start up video on using a product, no hiccups watching the video first.

I had an older WorkForce for many years that worked flawlessly (and still does). I hated to part with it, but the idea of having the same reliability with the EcoTank was too good to pass up.
