I REALLY LIKE THIS PRINTER--INSPITE OF THE FACT THAT the computer fax & scan software doesn't work very good. Also, when I insert a document to be scanned or faxed into the auto feeder, the 8x11.5" paper will sometimes hang up about 1/4" before it reaches it's stop, which causes the fax to have to be started over again. In spite of these problems, I still like the printer very much. FREEDOM FROM INK CARTRIDGES IS THE GOAL, you see!!!!!

No duplex copying

I like the machine's print quality and cheap ink. I don't feel constrained having to decide if what I am going to print is worth the cost of ink, I can just print. I was very disappointed when I realized the ET-4550 does not do 2-sided copying only 2 sided printing. I paid extra for the ET-4550 over the ET-4500 thinking the machine was fully duplex capable. I have a Workforce printer that was much cheaper with an ADF that could do 2-sided copying. Epson should make it very clear that the ET-4550 cannot copy documents that are 2 sided. I am also disappointed that Epson doesn't have an ET printer option that has a ADF that can handle 2 sided documents with out going to the very top of the line WF‑R4640 or now the new ET-16500 (which wasn't available when I bought my 4550) for $500 more. The price difference for my non-eco-tank workforce printer was only $100 for full duplex capabilities over the non-duplex. Not sure why Epson can't do that for the ET-4xxx series. 2-sided printing is not nearly as useful without 2-sided copying.

Some Problems
on October 7, 2016

I bought this printer because of the inexpensive and long lasting ink feature. This is excellent, as I hoped it would be.
The printer is very slow. When making copies, it automatically assumes you want two sided copying; this apparently is the default and I can't find a way to change it. Furthermore, it's difficult and very inconvenient to change it to one sided printing each time you want to make a copy!

Easy to set up

My printer had very little set up required. It was easy to follow instructions and connect it to wifi. Filling the ink tanks was easy following directions. The printer is very noisy but the value I'm getting makes it worth it. If the printer produces the number of copies advertised it will be my best buy of the year.

Not especially impressive

I bought this printer to use for a small non-profit. We print a fair number of color fliers. I installed it in August 2015. About September of 2016, there started being problems with banding in the output. Various attempts at clearing the print heads haven't yet resolved the issue to our satisfaction. I have the printer at my home now in an attempt to debug it.

instead of selling you a cheap printer with expensive ink epson has made an expensive printer with cheap ink. the problem is that the printer itself is basically garbage--from day one my prints have been streaky, no matter how many times i clean the print head or run the utliities.
