Flimsy materials/Difficult to set up

I replaced my WF-3540 with this WF-4750 to save $ on ink. The first thing I noticed was that the materials were flimsy like a kid's toy. I had to return the first one I bought because we couldn't get it to print. Setting up this second one has been tricky. The first time I tried to scan I had to fiddle with the settings. Also it wouldn't let me set up the fax info. And now that I got the scanner working, it no longer prints wirelessly. I wasted lots of my valuable time on this finicky printer so I'm not sure how much I'm saving on ink. If I can eventually get it all set up properly, I think I'd love all the features and the savings on ink.

Horrible experience to set up

Would not set up with Windows XP - had to use print by email or "remote"
Would not set up wirelessly on network with Windows 7.
The software is buggy and the printer feels "cheap"

Disappointed

I replaced an older Epson multifunction unit to get better ink economy. While it appears that this advantage has been realized, I now realize that I gave up a lot of other functionality. I'm disappointed in EPSON because I thought this was an improvement. It's not! First, the older printer had an adjustable fence for length of the supply paper in the removable drawer. The 4750 has neither a removable drawer nor an adjustable length fence. It's harder to load paper since the drawer doesn't remove, and you have to be careful to keep your fingers pushing the paper forward as you load it so that it feeds properly. No more insert paper and close drawer. The paper is free to move away from the front of the drawer and not feed at all. I also gave up a bit of capacity in the new unit, but that was a small sacrifice and I was aware of it before the purchase. Secondly, the top mounted scanner feed is very slow and lacks the positive movement of the older model. IT ALSO DOES NOT PERFORM AUTOMATIC TWO-SIDED SCANNING - a real loss of functionality. Thirdly, the older unit came with desktop scanning software that was exceptionally good and highly user friendly and flexible. All I have now is the small flat panel on the unit that is rudimentary in comparison. I can't change the storage location of the scans on my PC. I also lost the ability to scan to a thumb drive since I need the USB port for direct connect to my PC. For some reason, the new printer won't connect wirelessly although my former printer did. My attempt to economize on ink cost was a mistake. I now realize that EPSON didn't improve the multifunction unit, it just traded a lot of important features in exchange for better ink economy. I'm greatly disappointed.
