Excellent Customer Service

I purchased the ET-4550 at a local office supply store, and within several weeks, began to have problems with the printer hanging up frequently on print commands. I called customer service, and they immediately determined that it was a hardware issue, and arranged to send me a replacement. I received it within a few days, and sent my original printer back at no cost to me. Could not ask vfor better service!

ET 4550 fails to print true color. i.e. BROWN instead of RED

Purchased about 9 months ago. Problems with color print. RED prints BROWN. Unable to correct. Disappointing. Will never by Epson product again.

Don't Run Out of Ink in the Middle of a Project!

The Epson WorkForce ER-4750 EcoTank All-in-One Printer comes with 2 sets of ink, 1 set for now and one for later. You fill the reservoirs yourself. It is shipped with enough ink for 2 years of printing (11,000 b/w or 8500 color pages (the equivalent of 50 ink cartridges). When I realized I had to fill the tanks myself, I was a little concerned that I would end up with ink everywhere – on my hands or, worse yet, on the carpet. I was pleasantly surprised…the process was extremely clean (not a drop of ink anywhere) and quite simple. Do follow the instructions closely, because there is a process – you fill the reservoirs, then prime the printer, and then fill them again and reset the levels. Epson has videos on their website to walk you through the process.
I love that I can air print from my iPhone and android tablet. It has good wireless range – the printer is in the back of my house and I usually print from the other end of the house. Most of all, I love that it has the capability to print, copy, scan and fax double sided documents. It has a flatbed scanner and a document feed on the top. It is easy to scan to your computer or attach to an email – even double-sided documents. The calibration process is a tedious; following the instructions is key. It is a nice sized all-in-one and doesn’t have a large footprint. The touchscreen is intuitive - easy to navigate and set up functions. The initial cost ($499) was a shock, but remember, the printer comes with the equivalent of 50 ink cartridges. I’m excited that I won’t run out of ink in the middle of a project and have to run to town to buy new cartridges. The print quality is good – not great photo quality, but for my everyday regular use, is just fine. We also own a business and just prior to this, I purchased and installed another Epson printer (WF-4730). I have found that Epson offers excellent price, quality, and functionality. I was not terribly impressed with tech support (an out of the country call center), but thankfully I did not require any tech support in setting up the ER-4750. I will purchase the ER-4750 for our business when I need another printer – simply because of the tank style ink.

Finally, a printer that prints beautiful pictures and doesn't make me go bankrupt with the cost of the ink/toner. I love this printer!

Beware: it does NOT do 2-sided copying!

I was so excited to find this printer. I've used external continuous ink supply tanks for quite a while now, and it's so nice to see a printer manufacturer get on board with what customers want and make it possible for us to be able to use OEM ink for a decent price. Almost everything was great about this all-in-one. Set-up easy, ink fill easy, menu navigation easy enough, prints look fine.
However, when you scroll through the product pictures, the first and sixth ones really make it look like this machine does 2-sided COPYING. It does NOT. It only does 2-sided printing. (Also no 2-sided scan or fax if you're wondering.) This feature may not be used by a lot of people, but it happens to be something I really need. My bad for not noticing the description only mentions printing, not all 4 operations, but as mentioned, the product pictures are VERY misleading in my opinion. It will take two separate 1-sided sheets from the ADF and spit out a 2-sided copy, but will not take a 2-sided sheet from the ADF and spit out a 2-sided copy. Epson, do you know how annoying it is to have a binder full of 2-sided prints and not be able to copy them easily?
Also, after only 200 copies, I had black streaks across my copies. After running all 3 alignments and the paper guide cleaning, the streaks were gone easily enough. Not sure if it was just an out of the box issue or what. Hopefully I don't have to align and clean things every few hundred pages from now on. Time will tell.
As some others have mentioned, the touch screen is a bit small. This wouldn't be half as bad except that they try to cram too much on one screen and some of the arrows are barely more than 1/8 inch apart. You can easily touch the wrong one if you aren't using the side of your pinky finger.
So, I would recommend this machine if you carefully read all it's specs and they meet your needs.

Can's Get Scanner to work

I bought this product just recently and I liked the ink saving aspect of it. I need to scan to my computer on a regular basis as well as print numerous pieces of paper on a daily basis. My wife and I work in our home office together and I have a Microsoft Surface. So I do not have a disc drive for my computer. I have downloaded and re-downloaded the programs over and over again to no avail. I cannot get the printer to recognize my computer....That "last computer" item that comes up is absolutely annoying and aggravates me. My wife's computer works to scan but it is annoying to have to get her to send me stuff.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Printer Setup

I just received an ET-4550 EcoTank today. I have an iMac and the printer instructions were very good and everything set up and installed just as explained in the instructions. I had no problem with any of the installation and setup. Now we have to wait to see how well it performs although I think it will do fine.
I would recommend this to a friend!
