All in All a good printer

I am very happy with this printer all in all but it does have a few minor quirks.
The text is as good as laser but on occasion it will have a blurred line always on the bottom of the page but it does not happen often and it is no major deal.
The colors are bright and vibrant with the same blurred portion on the bottom and again does not happen very often. The graphics I have printed all turned out well but have not tried any type of photo paper ones.
I have printed around 5,000 pages so far and just had to add the second bottle of black ink but there is still plenty of the colored ink left in the reservoirs. Most pages I print have well more then the 5% coverage and I am happy with the ink usage.
The print speed is a bit slow but is close to their ppm rating.
All in all an excellent printer!

Good but...

We are very pleased with our Epson WorkForce ET-4550 Eco Tank, especially not having to repeatedly buy cartridges. Set-up was simple. Our primary issue is having to remove the paper and adjust the tray when printing envelopes and legal size sheets of paper, then readjusting it for letter size paper. With prior printers we could just place envelopes and legal size paper on top of the letter-size paper or thee was a separate slot. Slipping a legal size sheet on top of letter size can be done but is somewhat iffy with success. It just doesn't work to try it with envelopes.

Great Product Better Value

Purchased the Epson ET-4550 after looking at several printers, thanks to a recommendation by some friends. It has been a great investment and has saved us on printing costs. Great quality and color with perfect hue. Thank you for a great product. Love the easy way to refill when you are getting low on ink and the cost of the refills is awesome. Cant beat the quality and value of such a great product.

I've been very pleased with the EcoTank printer. Output quality is excellent, and it's AWESOME not to worry about running out of ink every month or so. Best printer I've ever had.

Wifi printing requires a phone call to Epson

Now that I have it setup correctly, I like it a lot so far in the 2 days I've had it and printed and scanned with it, but getting it setup was a nightmare. Wifi printing requires a phone call to Epson. I followed every installation instruction on the disc that came with the printer, but it would only print via USB cable until I called Epson tech support and they walked me through a very non-intuitive method involving removing the printer from my list of printers and re-adding it manually. Thankfully, other than typically bad call center phone connections, tech support solved the problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Setup

Was easy to setup but for some reason when I tried to print via WIFI it would print for a second o two then stop for a few minutes then print a bit more. When connected via cable printed right away and good quality

Always cleaning print heads

I did a bit of research before I bought this ET-4550 and was excited about low cost of ink. What I did not know is how often I will need to clean the print heads. So I have had this printer for around 3 weeks now and have made some beautiful color copies. Last week we did not make any color copies and when we tried to today we got pink lines that ran across the paper. I did a print head clean and it got worse. I called tech support and talked to Chris who said that this is typical and that if the printer sits for a week that the print heads might need to be cleaned up to 3 times. So he recommended that I try cleaning them again. This second cleaning did the job and the printer is working again. To me this is a very bad design. Color printing for me is not a daily thing so if I can't return this printer I guess that I will be wasting a lot of ink cleaning print heads. And if I need a color copy I should plan on extra time just in case I need to clean the print heads.

Loses connection

This was a hefty investment for a home printer. It would not connect to one of my routers and loses connection and goes offline of the other one. I have to reinstall it to get it woking again. Disappointment.
