ET 4500 is a time and cost saver for my business

I own an interior design business, and we are constantly printing presentation documents, contracts, invoices and purchase orders. Last year, we spent a good chunk of money on ink replacement cartridges. Not only was this costly, but it was time consuming and frustrating to have to replace the cartridges so frequently.
Luckily, last October we were offered the opportunity to test-drive the new ET 4500 in exchange for a product review. I read about the features and the boasts about the printing capacity, but I had my doubts.
I can honestly say that I have been so pleased with this product. It was easy to install (I did it myself!), filling the ink cartridges was a little different than I am used to but easy none-the-less, and we've been printing from this original fill since December without having to refill yet! Each tank is still about half way full.
I would highly recommend this printer to other small business owners who want to save the hassle and money of replacing ink cartridges frequently.
I would recommend this to a friend!

ET-4500 EcoTank SETUP

Very easy set up, however the only issue I came across was that the written documentation did not spell out that after step 3 you need to set up the wireless settings on the copier first - before moving onto step 4 or 5... If you do not, after step 5 (installing software) it will not detect the wireless printer... And then you get locked into a loop of trying alternate setup methods.

Eco tank 4500

I have been using Epson printers for years. I never really wanted to go all in one due to the way my friends have described their experiance with theirs (other brands) after 10 years of excellent use of my photo stylus R300 it finally gave up the ghost so printer hunting began. I have been hearing of the Eco tank series on radio and after looking at all brands on the market decided on the 4500 due to the ink tanks the Epson name. Remember 10 Years. I hope this lasts as long. The only short fall that I can see so far for the 4500 is that the scanner is a little slower than my 20 year old scanner but better quality copies thank you Epson staff for hopefully starting a path for all to follow back to quality products

Slow Scanning, Copying

I bought the ET4500, and found the scanning and copying to be gosh-awful slow. When I tried to research the Epson-published scanning and copying speeds, I received multiple emails from their Tech Support and Sales Support departments saying that these speeds were NOT published. They said there were too many variables. I consider this a cop-out. They could have picked and chosen the variables they liked, and published those variables, along with the speed attained. I suspect that they have an issue with speed on the 4500. I read a user review somewhere that the 4550 was faster. I asked for those published speeds and got the same runaround. But I like the series enough to exchange my 4500 for a 4550. I am happier with the scanning and copying speed of the 4550. But Epson calls it a MULTI-function, so I think they should pay attention to all aspects of their printers when designing them, and ensure they meet some minimal, published benchmarks, that compete with other vendors products.

Good, not great

I purchased the Epson WorkForce ET-4500 EcoTank to try out the new ink technology in a small business, one person office. The set up was easy, it connected to our NetGear N600 without a hitch. I just plugged it in, followed the (easy) directions and I was printing within 5 minutes. The ink was easy to install; just take the tips off the bottles and pout into the ink tanks. Having the ink tanks located on the outside of the printer makes filling and checking the ink levels painless. At this point it was a 5 star review.
The first star was lost when I began printing. This printer is S L O W! When you are using the document feeder to copy a document, it scans the document at the rates that the old scanners (1990s) scanned. Having said that, when the copy finally emerges it is clear, with no shadowing or smears. It is however, not as dark (crisp) as I would have liked. I guess that is one way to save on ink usage. The color copies are true, if a bit dull. Not photo quality, but OK for document headings, titles, highlighting, etc. Printing wireless is OK, just slow. There is a lot of humming and clanking when the printer warms up for the first print of the day, but I have experienced that with other Epson printers. I cannot describe any of them as quiet, but they are not obnoxious. I have only used the machine for about 2 months so its hard to know how the ink will hold up,but I can say that with normal usage the ink levels have not changed. The scanning and faxing functions work as expected; no bells or whistles just standard functionality.
For me, the loss of speed and crisp, photo quality prints will be well worth it if I get the 2yr ink life, but I cannot rate the machine higher than average because of the slow speed and the ho hum printing quality.

Initial setup

Very easy to setup and connect to my private WiFi network. Filling the ink reservoirs was clearly explained and was successful without spillage. LCD screen is clear and easy to follow on-scree instructions. Like how the paper sits almost vertical to save desk space. Pairs nicely with my WF-3640.

The Perfect Multi-tasker

I couldn't be happier with my Epson Workforce ET-4500 All in One Printer! The scanner is fantastic. The print quality is very good, and I love being able to make color copies in a flash. What most excites me though is that I can see my ink and know exactly how much is being used and how much is left. With my old cartridge printer I always felt I was somehow being taken advantage of. The ink sometimes ran out so quickly it seemed impossible I had started with a full cartridge.

Too Soon to Tell

So... As single Dad of 2 young kids, a student and a mental health worker, I scrimped and saved to buy this new printer I heard about on the radio (for months). Today was the day! After slaving over a grueling mathematics exam, I treated myself to the long awaited purchase.
Putting in the ink... should have come with gloves. I look like I've been dying Easter eggs... no big deal- tis the season. The WORST part is I've been waiting for my ink to charge FOREVER! It's almost 11:30pm and kids are up 6am. I'm going to bed now.
I know it says not turn it off but this 'initial charging' is taking hours... I really hope this works out ;-/
