I purchased this printer 8 months ago. Have had no problems whatsoever. I print a lot, and just now, need to refill the black ink. It is an excellent printer, for occasional home office use. I've scanned/printed several pictures as well, very satisfied with the quality. I recommend this printer for it's price and more than adequate functionality..
I would recommend this to a friend!

This has been a nice replacement for another vendor's inkjet all in one that stopped picking up the paper from the magazine. There are times when this Epson is slow to start (it's preparing to print).
I would recommend this to a friend!

This has been a real pain

This is the 3rd time I’ve had to register my printer just so I can print from my iPad. Every time I get an update from Apple or Epson, I have to go through this all over again. Grrrrr!

Epson XP -830 - one day experience

This xp830 seems to be a good unit. I would take ½ star off the rating for a two or three things that could be solve in the documentation. ½ star is somewhat severe, but these things cost me quite a bit of time because they weren't documented.
I took off all the packing tape and materials that I saw and lifted the lid to see the top of the scanning platen. There was a diagram showing a funny looking hand at the side of scanner – I wasn't sure it was a hand so I proceeded to the next step by plugging the power cord into the printer and pushing the “on” button. The machine made some noise and then the display panel proclaimed and error had occurred and listed a hexadecimal error number.
I spent a great deal of time in Epson's online user guides search for a list hex errors. Nowhere could I find either a reference or a spreadsheet of hex errors. (this I consider worth ¼ of a star. Finally, out of frustration, I lifted on the printer top to get a look at the ink-loading area. Behold, there is more packing material in the ink cartridge insertion guide. So, I took it out and there is a note on this flimsy foam stating I should save it for future printer transport. (saving flimsy packing material is worth 1/8 of a star).
Everything then proceeded well until my attempting to enter my WiFi password on a ten digit phone keypad. I believe it would be easier to have a single button to switch from upper case to lower case. This also cost time.
Cassette 1 will also slide past its “fully seated” notches far into the printer, and you may have to get an unbent paper clip to slip it backward.
I would complement the fact that the 830 has a fully backlit touchscreen the is well organized and has readable print. Print quality seemed fine for an inkjet. I have not fully tried printing of photos. This is my 1 day experience report. Epson, put a note in the instruction foldout that there are packing materials in the cartridge holder. I would recommend this printer to a friend currently and give it a 3.9 star rating.
