Not Able To Print w/ Expended Color Cartridges on XP-830

I am disappointed with the ink cartridge situation, and the lack of notice/ information regarding this issue. Printing in color is a great bonus and one of the reasons I purchased this printer. However, not all of my printing needs require color, and I should not have to purchase color cartridge(s) until I have a need to print in color. My disappointment is this - if ANY cartridge(s) run out, you will not be able to print until you replace ALL of the cartridge(s) that are out of ink. After looking into this ((((frustrating)))) dilemma and attempting to troubleshoot, I came across what should be an option to 'Permit temporary black printing', however this feature did not work for me, printer message said I was out of ink, and I must replace two color cartridges to print anything. So, although this is a cute little printer that is very 'small space' friendly, the point of having a black & color printer is to be able to print in either option at any given time. This printer does not allow that. Not pleased with this product for that reason.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

BOUGHT TO TO PRINT CD LABELS. PERFECT!

Printer is compact and easy to use. Wireless setup was quick and easy(was prepared to use with usb cable but it was totally unnecessary. :)
Print quality on cd's is excellent! Bought extra ink cartridges but haven't had to install them yet as the factory cartridges provided with printer still have plenty of ink left. I have printed some documents and printed a LOT of cd labels using the provided cd tray and am completely satisfied. Haven't printed any photos yet as that was not purpose I bought the printer for but if the quality is anywhere close to the cd printing, the results should be great! Printer is compact but has all the features of the big boys

Bad instructions

It took forever to get this thing connected. Once I downloaded the right stuff it worked. However, the right stuff wasn't on the CD that came with the printer.

Espon pics are always great

Bought this printer after years with a different printer company. Only left Epson (way back when) because they didn't have what I needed. Missed the quality pictures. Had to get a new printer and stayed with that company out of convenience. Big mistake. From the time I got it nothing but problems and support wasn't what it used to be. Decided go back to Epson and has all I need. Have to say right out of the gate. Set up a breeze and so much easier than the other company. One of the easiest set up with anything I have had. The directions were very easy to follow. Pictures are great. Not sure about document print yet. Reviews said a little lacking. I personally don't think it will be an issue. If it is, I will write a follow up review. Usually wait to write reviews but this time thought what the heck. Only had this days but so far so good and what I expected. Quality as good as the old ones but so much easier to use.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best Thing Ever

I bought this to replace a hp printer envy 7855 , that is horrible! not even a year old and it makes these horrible noises, and doesn't print right almost every time. Unable to get Hp to even respond! I bought the warranty on it! worthless! I love this Epson Expression Premium xp-830 Small -in -one Printer its so nice and easy to run! Made my life a lot simpler!

XP-830 blues

When printer is working, it’s a dream. When not, it’s a real pain in the neck. I often get messages that paper tray in 2 is empty, when it’s not. Because copier leaves ink drips on copies more often than not, I have to clean ink heads a lot.. Still can’t get SCAN to work, even after printing out and following that section of the manual. Ink is expensive. Accessing the Fax port with phone line is difficult without major gymnastics. BUT..., on the positive side, I like the ease of use of the screen. The directions are clear and do what they say they’ll do. Also, when all is working right, the text and photo copies are very clear and nice.
I would recommend this to a friend!
