Can't print without ALL ink cartridges full

I can't believe that you can't print unless all the ink cartridges have ink remaining. Just ran out of black and can't use just photoblack or change color of document to print only in color. Useless.

Hi 3peasinapod, Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when you are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged, preventing air bubbles from entering. Air bubbles can damage the print head. Doesn't let me print in a single color

Even when I set the settings to print in monochrome with full ink, it keeps telling me to replace photo black when I don't even need to use color/photo ink.

Bought this printer a little over a year ago and nothing but problems with connectivity. Install. Uninstall. Rinse and repeat nearly a dozen times. What a hassle! Utterly hate this thing!

Easy set up

Setting up the XP-830 was a breeze. I followed the instructions exactly (very easy) and that was it, wireless connections done! I plan to use the direct USB connection too. Very nice beginning and the print is beautiful for an inexpensive printer. The printer seems to be exceeding my expectations. Nice! Dr. John
