I am taking this printer back the set up instructions were terrible. It does print a nice photo but that's all I can print. I bought this one as I don't need a fax. The trays come all the way out one fell on the floor I don't like having the tray pulled out. I may check out thr epson 830 probably go back to a HP
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just gave this printer to my wife who loves to print pictures, so far she is in love with it. It prints great pictures just as good as you would get at any film developer

XP-630

I had an XP-610 for 2 years before the print head failed. Replaced with XP-630. Copies are very good.
I appreciate the new functionality of the 630's properties window. One major annoyance is the switch from 273 ink cartridges to 410. I'm stuck with 8 boxes of 273 cartridges. Only one minor annoyance. With the XP-610 I never needed to move the control panel. With the 630 the output tray can't be opened without lifting the control panel.

great printer, but...

This printer met all of expectations for an Epson photographic printer. However, if I have one complaint there is too much that needs to be done with "trays", at least as to what I am use to.
Almost every time I start a printing operation I have neglected to close something or forgot to open something or I didn't slide something far enough. Any way, it prints great photos.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Communication problem

I've had the printer for 2 months now and every once in a while I lose communication between the printer and PC. It is connected via USB, so I wouldn't expect to have connection problems. I tried several different cables, but the only thing that fixes the problem is to power cycle the printer and do a setup for the paper tray, and rreset the type and size of the paper. If anyone has had this type of problem please let me know what you did to correct it.
