Compact and user friendly

I purchased the XP 830 after my Epson 3540 Work Force died after 3 years. I have been using the XP 830 in my home office for about a month now. Setting up the scan features went well. Using the copy feature- enlarge/reduce is fairly user friendly. Haven't figured out the manual load yet-tried but the paper went through without copying-so now I need to read the instructions. Photos are crisp and clear. Longevity of print cartridges-appears in line with past operational history. Summaryl- functional machine and serves my home office business well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

there are black in smears on every document no matter the media type. If you want a good copy you have to tell it to print at least three because the first few have black ink smears in random places. We've run all maintenance options to try and clear it up but nothing has worked. We buy only Epson ink for it. Unfortunately, at the time we purchased two of these and neither department likes it. Low capacity paper tray, not user friendly. I was excited at first to have this printer and it has been a nightmare ever since. It is used in a small office capacity. If it weren't for the black ink issue smearing on hands, pages etc, It would be a decent printer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The color is great, even on plain paper. The print time is impressive. Position of paper tray, in the machine itself, for letter size is a pain. I have to get out a flash light to make sure I am positioning it correctly.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good so far, odd features

Just bought this, love the automatic output tray. However, the 'back tray' is very hard to find,the drawings are not helpful, since you can also use the top one for single as well as double sheets.
The only way to directly print photos is by memory card. The quality of copied and scanned photos, as well as direct ones from the computer, is disappointing, not sharp and colors not as bright as originals. Telling a brand new printer to fix this by cleaning print heads doesn't do it.
I would recommend this with warnings,if photos are important.Other printing is excellent!

Fully Loaded and a Great Wireless Printer

Had an old HP wireless and wanted an upgrade. Much better printer and I researched Consumer Reports and this was the one.

Disappointing

I typically LOVE Epson printers. The quality of the print and color is excellent. They make some of the few printers that will print to DVDs and CDs, and they have been my "go-to" printers for years. However, the XP-830 printer has been a major disappointment. It has shown no ability to print to DVDs and CDs from my iMac. Unfortunately, I did not have occasion to test this feature within a reasonable time of purchasing the printer. When I did test it, it was completely incapable of printing directly to disc. I would not recommend this product at all. Now I have to shop for another printer that will meet my needs.

Unreliable AirPrint

This printer was purchased primarily for its AirPrint feature. In fact, it was so unreliable in connecting with AirPrint devices that I've thrown this printer in the trash.
