We use this at home mainly for regular paper printing, very few photos. It does great on both jobs.

I bought this printer because the current one I'm using is no longer making a "photo" printer with multiple ink cartridges and I don't want to end up being without when the current one dies.. Once I hard-wired the unit to my laptop (wi-fi was too spotty to use in my location), the printer ran flawlessly, speed will take getting used to as it is slower than the other one. I was somewhat skeptical of the door to access the paper trays opening automatically...I'll get used to it

Compact Printer With Great Features & Quality

I've been using Epson AIO printers for many years. For the most part I've been very satisfied. The XP830 is no exception. While this model could certainly be considered "photocentric" it offers most or all of the features a home or small business user would ever need. I do quite a bit of direct-to-disc CD/DVD printing and it certainly does an exceptional job with that! I've never encountered problems loading ink, setting up wifi, smearing, or other technical issues that a few reviewers have mentioned. The document feeder can sometimes be a bit fussy with a large stack of documents, especially if they haven't been fanned before placing them in the feeder. If doc feeding will be a daily activity I would suggest looking at a more industrial office model. And yes, it does provide low ink warnings via the status monitor tray application. If this has been disabled by the user, the warnings won't appear. Anyway, aside from the high cost of ink that we all complain about, I can definitely recommend the XP830 for home or small office use.

I've been using the 830 for over two months now and it is as close to idiot proof a printer as I have ever owned. Great buy and great features.

Great printer.

My previous printer by another manufacturer broke. I loved that printer, it had all the features that I could want; print, scan, fax, wifi, individual ink cartridges, separate photo paper tray, etc. That manufacturer no longer makes a comparable model. I was so glad to find this Epson XP-830. I has almost all of the things I liked about my old printer except that the paper tray does not hold as many pages, probably 20 or 30, I did not count. I am a person in my late 70s and by stereotype should have the difficulties that others in these reviews have complained about. I had no problem with the setup. I connected via Wi-Fi to my local network and all three of my computers have no problem printing to it. The cartridges are easy to replace. The touch screen menus are easy to use. Great printer.

Horrible experience

This printer does not even deserve a star! I thought I had upgraded from a WF3540 to this XP 830. But in reality it has been nothing but problems. First the printer is a cartridge guzzler and the cartridges are not cheap. Second. the printer is very finicky. You often receive messages to turn on and off the printer in order for the printer to function. However, to be fair, may I just got a lemon as in the tenth month I had to get a replacement when the printer feeder began to malfunction. WF3540 lasted 5 years without a problem. This XP830 is a awful.
