I have only had this printer for a few months. I have had to replace the ink cartridges, even though we do not use the printer very much. The last time I replaced the cartridges was a month ago. I have printed out about 12 pictures and a few documents. The cyan has run out. I cannot print anything until I replace the cyan, even though I want to print documents in black and white.
Also, if I put more than one piece of paper in the printer, it jams. If I want to print a two page document, I have to print one page, then reload the printer to print the second page.
Very frustrating.

Good luck getting the product to recognize that it has been registered. Have done process twice, followed all instructions, and it will not print from my computer wireless connection.

I would prefer at time of purchase to receive a handheld User's Guide, especially for one who is not knowledgeable. I am having trouble at present as how to install paper, regular size, into the printer.

Installation pain
on June 26, 2016

I really like Epson but this printer was a pain in the butt to get the wifi working. It nearly took me three plus hours to get it working. The installation software couldn't connect with my laptop. During tenth set up attempt, I went into the computer's control panel and saw the printer I needed and the installation software was still trying to set up my wifi connection. I will think long and hard before buying another Epson.

ink costs

I love the printer it works very well and has more functions than most, But for amount of ink in a refill and price I find the ink to be very costly. I think printer companies sell the printers at a low price and make up for it on the price of ink.

Fix the MAC driver
on May 23, 2016

I like the features, but the scan software gets confused constantly so that I have to restart the computer and do a test print just to get the driver to recognize the scanner on my wifi lan. Come on guys, fix the software for my MacBook Pro running 10.10.5

Loved it Until.....

I was enjoying my Epson printer until I realized it drank ink like nobody's business. Very disappointing because I have hardly used it. Also be aware if one ink is out you cannot print. This can really lead to problems. I wish I had bought another product. I like Epson's printers though. Just maybe another style.

Know these facts before you buy an XP-830

I have excellent experience in the past with Epson printers. But the model EX 830 is to me step backward and a failed product.
It claims to print on CD/DVD's,OK it will but the process is very clumsy and time consuming unlike the Epson 730 CD/dvd printing which was so quick and easy.
The central failing of this product is the multiple removable trays. You have to rmove reys and carefully re-insert them to print CD, or 8.5 x11 or legal size.
The print quality is very good, but not any better than the old 730 model.
My 830 did not even come with USB port!! I had to interface with my local area net router with the special LAN cable. The touch screen menus are maze and nightmare to navigate but if you take an hour or so and download a manual, well while they are clumsy and frustrating to use they do work. But to do anything at alll it is multiple menu deal.
I traded the new 830 for a used Epson 730 and it is simply a far superior produce much easier and far faster to print CD/DVD and to load paper etc. I f you just wnat the scanner and 8.5 x11 paper then it is passable.
