Ink useage excessive

Positive: quality of print product is excellent. Negative: excessive ink requirements. Installed new cartridges for black and teal evening of 3 Jan. Printed one small color product and 10-12 pg b&w document. On 6 Jan new black and teal cartridges required. Either cartridges hold minimum ink at high cost or usage is excessive. Is there a solution other than replacing with a different brand?

Nice gadget with peculiar features.

This printer spends a lot of time clicking and whirring before printing anything. I have been using printers on my personal computer since the days of 9 pin dot-matrix Stars. This one holds the record for time spent between pushing the print button and getting any output. Once it gets started printing is pretty speedy and of excellent quality. Every time I print I verify the ink levels, a nice feature, Today the black ink level declined fron about one third to one fourth after printing one page. I have not attempted to print any photographs since Epson does not want to sell me any XL color inks. One of the reasons I purchased this was to print directly on CD & DVD media. Which while not totally intuitive will not print if I fail to observe the exact correct procedure. A good feature that keeps me from wasting materials. I have owned Epson printers in the past and have always been pleased with the quality of the printing. I refuse to waste my money on the tiny regular size cartridges that are available. Hopefully Epson will start stocking XL size color carts before I am forced to rely on the hassle of using 3rd party products. Have not used the copy feature due to the ink situation. Overall this is a nice machine that has some very annoying quirks including the touchscreen and paper tray extending and retracting every time I want to print. Am not really satisfied.

I have been using Epson for 12 years and this is the worse I have ever owned. If this is the best they can do then I need to find another brand that will fit my needs! I have had I think 7 different Epson printers and was generally satisfied with each till this one! I am in the Video business and I use this printer to Print DVD's. It does a decent job printing but at least 4 times a week it print a black smudge On a disc which I have to throw out. Thus it makes operating it more expensive and less productive!

Worst printer ever

I've been buying Epson printers since 1998. This printer is terrible. If I hadn't waited over 30 days to install it; I would have taken it back to the store.
I make all my own greeting cards and have to use the flimsy rear paper feed. You can only use 1 piece of card stock at a time. You can't use any of the settings to print properly with either of my programs. Use must hit print in the program, wait for the printer to warm up, then you can put in your paper in rear feed, then press OK on the printer. When you print the other side, you must change all the settings on screen, then wait for it to tell you to print, then get up again to put the paper in again.
I absolutely hate this printer.
The only reason I bought it, I was trying to save money on ink, since I had 2 other Epson printers. This one claimed to do all, including printing on CD's.

A great printer at a decent price. The photos are clear and it was easy to set up. I had a problem with the wireless set up and called Epson support. It took a while, about 45 minutes working with the rep, but he professional and patient, and able to walk me through getting the problem solved. I did not expect the high level of customer service that I received.

A Balancing Act

This printer has a lot of different functions - fax, scanner, printer... and it is a great size for a small home office. I researched a long time to decide on this printer and I have to say that I am disappointed. I have only used the printer function but, the office prints are quite average and the photo prints are not acceptable - I will have to keep having the lab print my photographs. While I can live with that, I really am concerned about the potential longevity of this machine because I have never seen such flimsy paper trays, which are quite awkward to load. I hope they last awhile.

You need to purchase their own ink cartridges.

I was disappointed because the printer only accepts Epson inks. I could have saved my money by purchasing them from online rather than buying costly inks from Epson.
