Thought this unit would be great for us. Had a terrible time connecting the wireless easy to setup feature. Maybe just me. Tried to find Epson help and good luck with that. Very displeased right now.

setup

It has been hard to set up starting with registration. Unlike previous printer when i get to the registration serial number it would tell me where to look. I finally found it on the box. To search is equal bad. Most of the 1000 places that it finds will be trying to make a sale. I am looking for a chat that i have not found. My hope is when and if i get it setup that the product is better than the setup.

display seems flimsy and paper is hard to put in

After opening the box and setting up the printer, I regretted purchasing it. But since I am 200 miles away from where I purchased it, I am stuck. The control panel opens by itself and feels very flimsy. It sticks out past the machine and is easily bumped. It is unnecessary to have the panel open- just one more thing to go wrong on the machine. The paper loader is hard to find and you always feel like you are putting it in the wrong place- most of the time, you grab the wrong tray (the envelope tray or something) and you need to fish around to find where to put paper in the printer. One thing that should be easy on the printer is putting paper in it. I should not have to demonstrate to every new person how to load paper in the machine. Epson, please just make things SIMPLE and straight forward.

Our printer... and we're stickin' to it!

We have had this Epson XP-830 for several months now, and it has done everything we have wanted it to do. We had to get used to it, and it is working better and better as we do. We do not use it every day. We have bought one black ink cartridge (most of our printing is documents). I was worried about the ink drying between uses, but that has not been a problem. The ink is somewhat expensive, but it seems to last us an adequate time. My wife is an artist and she likes the quality of the color prints, even on plain paper. She has used the color prints in her art classes.

New Printer, Already Broken
on May 31, 2016

Changed the Black Ink for the Second Time since I've owned the printer; used Epson brand ink, looks like the printer head is junk.
Printer just prints blank pages; will not print black ink at all.
Used entire new cartridge of blank ink just doing the troubleshooting according to Epson recommendations; still won't print. Looks like the print head is junk, which is pretty bad since the printer is new.
Don't waste your money on this printer.

Horrible design, ink is difficult to find

My old Artisan died and was discontinued. I needed something which could print directly on CDs/DVDs, double-sided color printing on standard inkjet paper and scan/copy.
The paper tray is difficult to fill & position, the output tray (not shown in the ads) is awkward and has to be extended to even start to print. The DVD tray is hidden under the paper tray and it requires all my engineering skill to use it - the software doesn't make it any easier.
Useless for printing envelopes or card stock, I have an XP-410 for that.

Registration date validation is a joke

Went to register this product and it would NOT take today's date of 06/12/2016. Finally had to put the date THEY suggested of 01/01/2010. Yup, that worked. Now I have my printer registered as purchased in 2010. Hope the printer works better than your registration software.

the set up was easier than I expected. Good that the software was able to identify the network without any input from me.
I like the compact size however the paper trays aren't easy to pull out and the plastic seems delicate.
