I am leaving a review due to the fact that only after 4 months my printer stopped working! I did call EPSON and they did replace it (with a refurbished unit), I just finished setting it up. If I have any more issues, I am sure to leave more reviews.

Initial setup impressions

I purchased this to replace an Artisan 810, not all features of the old printer were available, CD printing determined my choice
Quick Start is too brief, does not cover network setup in detail. Great frustration with numeric/phone keypad putting numbers last. The requirement to repeatedly press the same button and use the arrows to move to the next number was *not* clearly stated in the quick start instructions.
Ink cartridge covers are amusing. What was wrong with the pull-off tabs of the 98 series? The new bags are harder to open and 'saving' the caps for some magical point when I throw the cartridge away seems a waste of time. Trash is trash, who cares if it is dripping or covered? Now I have to find the plastic bag (which was damaged by packing tape) just to throw out a cartridge?
I am not too confident of the durability of the LCD panel as it needs to move for every job, the earlier Artisan design left it alone other than visibility issues.
Unit physically vibrates from the force of the ink carriage movement. That is loose sloppy design and adds to the noise of the unit.
It is unclear if photo printing is allowed from anything other than cassette 1 (which limits it to 5x7 in). Earlier printers did full letter size with no special requirements.
Clamshell top-feed trays seem to be designed to minimize dust in the unit rather than durability. Time will tell.
So ... I'm not impressed and I have little choice in all-in-one printers with CD and photo abilities.
PLEASE include printed User Guide/Documentation in the box. Quick Start doesn't even cover all the paper feed options...

High maintenance ink hog

This printer constantly needs new ink. We have light use for elementary school kids in our house. Even when you try to print in black and white only, it forces you to replace the color cartridges. Incredibly frustrating given the specs make it sound like it is an efficient user of ink.

Bought the printer in October 2015 and have gone through two sets of standard ink. I now have the 410XL installed which is suppose to give you twice the printing, but of course at twice the cost. I am a home user and do not print that often so I can only think that the ink cartridge 410 are leaving the manufacturer not completely full of ink or the start up sucks ink to energize the cartridge. The ink is not available from retail store or the web vendors. Epson must have put a fair market price lock on there ink if you Google it you will see what I mean, so if and when they are available you won't get them any cheaper. After market refills are not available.
What a shame the printer has nice feature and works well but
this doesn't justify the HIGH cost Epson is making use pay for ownership.

Nice printer!!

The printer was easy to set up. It is small and compact so it fits my desk easily. The control panel is easy to read and the USB and SD connections are very handy. Printing from our ipads are great.
the one con: When in the other room and I send a print from my ipad when I come to pick it up it hasn't printed because the out put tray was not extended. I don't like leaving the tray out as it is in the way any may get broken.

Papeer won't feed

Everything workede fine ubtikl I was prompted to print q wireless installation confirmation. Message to do something (not specified) to paper tray. Tried several times with different amounts of paper. Papeer will NOT feed.

difficult installation and no user manual

I recently purchased the xp 830 Epson printer . The installation was incredibly difficult. The installation CD could not be read from our computer and we had to download it from online. Had I not had a computer savvy person helping me, I would not have been able to get the set up completed. I'm not sure if this printer is supposed to be packaged with a directions manual, showcasing all of its features, but my box did not include one, so I'm trying to figure out how to use it myself. I haven't used it yet enough to know how it works. So far... not a great fan!!!!
