This is a great all around printer & copier for my desk. It does not take up much room and is wireless. I can print from my cell phone also.

My problem with my MFC-J485DW

My printer was off-line because of driver problem. During the wireless resetting, the
black ink (only) was marked X meaning it needs replacement. It isn't really empty because I was able to print a copy of a form. I just can't print the letter I just typed. I pulled out the black ink cartridge and suddenly all of the 3 color cartridges were marked X. There lies my problem.

Not satisfied with how long printer cartridges last. I’m also not happy that ican’t buy individual color cartridges. I now have extra cartridges of certain colors.

Needed another printer to replace my brother printer of 4 years ago. I liked my previous brother so I looked for another brother. This model more than fits the bill for me. Great features.

Disappointed in Brother MFC-J485DW

Pros: The quality of the print and copy functions is very good and the scanner is easy to use. Cons: Printing is painfully slow and the cartridges even with minimal use and no where near the projected number of pages run out of ink. The price of the printer was very reasonable but I will probably make up for it with the cost of new cartridges. Watch out that you do not use the cleaning function as this drastically uses up your ink.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
