Obnoxious

I have had this printer for well over a year and would not buy one again. Prints are okay. However, scans are terrible. For example, I scanned a paper my daughter did in grade school. On an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper she had 15 squares with pics drawn in each square. The scan makes individual scans of 11 of the squares. Other times if something is written at the top of the page then again at the bottom of the page, there will be two separate scans of the paper and if something is written in the middle, it just doesn't show up. Scanning with this machine is also very time consuming! Another thing to know is that there is no place to requests say 5 copies of a paper. You have to press the print button five times to get them. As I said, it is obnoxious.

Some benefits some annoyance

I like this printer in general although it was a bit expensive for the relatively limited features its offers. It jams sometimes mostly when the paper width adjuster where it loads isn't perfectly adjusted. Getting the paper out is annoying and it refuses to allow you to pull it out by pulling in the opposite direction of how the paper goes in, so you have to open the back and push it out in the correct direction.
That said the major plus to this printer for me is that I am able to reset the empty ink cartridges which indicate they are empty by holding down the cancel and correct color button for long enough/a few cycles instead of having to get a reset device. I just purchase the pigment ink in large bottles that are probably the equivalent of 20 ink cartridges or more and drilled a small hole on the top of the old cartiridge and have been able to use the same one for dozens of refills. I've had other printers that weren't this easy to refill and if you print a lot like me then you either have to be rich or able to reset your cartridge somehow otherwise the printer will refuse to use it no matter how much ink is in there. \
1 complaint that I have is that for the Mac driver for this and for all of the available downloads it seems like there is no developer certificate for the software. Having a developer certificate is essential even if it's not a perfect way to prevent malware, not having one just shows how much they care.

Paper jams, paper not recognized and connectivity issues. Needs to be monitored and fixed with each page you print. Unreliable product sadly.

Don't Change Your Modem Printer Will Not Work
on November 7, 2023

bought in 2021, and it worked pretty well. A couple days ago, my modem was replaced - same modem, just a new one. Now it will NOT connect at all. Ive done troubleshooting, unplugging, replug, pressing the buttons. On light steady, blue wifi light blinking, printer cannot be found. only way to use is with (bought separately of course) which defeats wireless. ipad cannot find at all. Printer remains offline. Now what do I do?

Excellent printer overall

I’ve had this printer for years (at least 5) and it’s been great. While I believe there are more robust, higher quality printers out there, this one has never disappointed me. It’s been reliable and consistent. It renders great color as well as B&W prints. The only downside is the cost of replacement ink which is a universal complaint with printers for as long as my memory serves. With that being said, even with a moderate amount of printing, I only have to replace the ink cartridges just under once a year.

Paired with more advanced technologies some tweaking is necessary…

Maintain reasonable expectations and the MG3620 should be an adequate printer for some users. On a limited income and more in need of a scanner (for digital archiving) than anything else I bought this on sale and saved on paying the chain stores to scan for me to boot. As long as it was inexpensive and wireless I was willing to settle a bit on quality, especially since the two “fancier” more expensive printers I owned in the past simply clogged to the point of non-usability from very light use anyway.
So here’s the rub. I have 2 iPads and a MacBook. I spent hours following the setup instructions and searching the Canon forums for tips but could not get the printer onto my Wi-Fi setup using the router method (my preference) or direct-to-printer-wireless method (clumsy and not as advertised).
But there is a fix. The router was dual band 2.4Gh and 5G so I forced the setting to 2.4Gh only, the printer being incapable of a 5G connection. The next day I called Canon Tech Supp which also had me force the router’s WPA2/WPA3 protocol to WPA2 only. Success!
