Superb Sound, But Software Needs Work

The sound on this device is really amazing for its size, and like most Bose products, its quality is top-notch. That said, the quality of the software is nowhere near as good, and the software is an important part of this product.
In order to use iTunes, you need to sync your iTunes library, which isn't very difficult once you figure out how, but the interface is rudimentary and not very intuitive. There's no status on the sync progress, so if it is syncing while you try to "Explore", you get an error message with no indication how long you need to wait. It's ok for browsing your music library, but it's difficult to filter your library compared to iTunes, and the usability is lacking. Having to create a SoundTouch account is kind of annoying too, considering that many people just want to stream from their local libraries.
I was hosting a party, and ended up just connecting to my computer via bluetooth so I could use iTunes, as it was far easier than trying to use the Bose software. In my case it was fine since there was only one speaker, but it's not the best solution if you have multiple speakers and want to adjust the sound individually, etc.
I haven't worked out the presets yet, but my first impression is that they work best with premium accounts on streaming services that I don't use (Pandora, Spotify, etc.). I do have a Spotify account, but was unable to use it because it is not a paid account. Then I tried to assign a preset to an iTunes playlist, only to be told "Content cannot be set as a preset."
Overall I'm still happy with the purchase, but Bose should really work to improve the SoundTouch software. If it were as good as the hardware I would have given this 5 stars.

I have sound touch 20 and 30 and I have to say that 20 does the job even for large rooms I was extremely surprised how loud this speaker is . love the feature where you can pair the speakers and preset station without having to use the bluetooth on my phone

sounds better then Sonos

I am looking to buy a system .My first look was at the Sonos system I bought it and after trying to figure it out I wanted to pull my hair out .I took it back to the store. I am now looking the the Bose system and speaking to 2 men at the store. They both said they would buy the Bose system before the Sonos . One guy told me he did buy the Sonos for his mom but can never figure it out so he returned it and got her the new Bose system and she loves it . You need to listen to the sound that comes out of it.

excellent product here. If most of your time spent listening to music is with streaming services like Spotify or Pandora, the SoundTouch will be the only sound system you will ever need. You can fully control it from any device with the app. Incredible Bose sound quality.

Amazing sound, terrible software

Let me start by saying from a purely acoustic standpoint, this system is second to none. I compared with all competitors and it stands head and shoulders above the rest. Unfortunately, all of this is severely limited by the inadequacy of the application/software. It is difficult to use with limited features and seems to crash every other week or update. Please help BOSE and improve the interface, reliability, and features of your software, because the sound is phenomenal!!

Love the sound touches are the best in the business the clarity and sound and style is untouchable state-of-the-art technology only one complaint I have is not able to have an adapter from my home theater which I have Acoustic mass 10 what a third-party receiver this way I could play all over for me saying that I have the 10 -30- 20 sound touch !

Excellent speaker, terrible app!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Sound Touch 20 sounds awesome, however the app for this unit on my new Samsung SE 10 phone sucks! Everyday I get home from work I have to reboot the speaker! Anyone else have this issue??
