Gorgeous Stainless Steel Range!

I just had my stove for a week; and still have, yet, to use my oven. However, I am finding it just too beautiful to use! I am still just gawking at it! Lol! I did use the stove top; however, found myself being careful to not drop anything, not even water, on it! I must get over the newness! Lol! My friends and family are ever so jealous! All of them were fawning over my stove, and my French Fridge, when I posted them on Social Media ... asking them to welcome my new treasures to my home! I, also, bought a stand alone freezer chest, but it wasn't available in stainless steel ... it"s white, and it is in my basement. But, I am in love with all three of my new appliances! Thank you, GE!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a replacement for my gas convention oven. It has all the same features but additionally came with a griddle. I ordered the center grate as well as the grill for the middle oblong burner. Overall, this is a great range.

Good broiler, middle griddle; poor burners

I really like this gas range but it has one major failing issue. First the good points: the oven works fine and set temperatures are true with no need to change my cooking times. The broiler is excellent (broilers are often weak on some gas ranges) and the middle burner griddle is great, it heats up fast and I can finally fry an egg over-easy without cooking the yolk too much.
The only down side with this range is the design of the burners. It has the commercial type grates that are quite sturdy (a feature I needed) but the burner heads only emit flame around the edges, nothing in the center. This results in the heat being directed outward too far for use with small pots. The heat rises around the pots, burning plastic handles and heating metal ones to a high temp that will burn the unwary. I realize that heat will heat pot handles to a degree but this design is just too much. It also greatly increases the heating time due to heat flowing around the pot instead of heating the bottom. I've switched to using wide pots with lids and metal handles to alleviate the problem somewhat, but I can't believe such a poor design was used. It's as if no actual cooking tests were done in the design stages.

a new experience

We've had the range up and going for about a month after over 40 years of cooking on an electric range. We're getting around the learning curve but definitely glad we made the choice we did. Then oven has been the easiest to use, still learning I can cook everything on the range top on low which is great! Stuff cooks quicker with more even heat then I had with my last smooth top electric range. We wish we had the change sooner.

So far so good. Getting used to the convection oven, but I think I'm really going to like it.
