A good, fairly bare-bones gas stove.

Needed to add a stainless-steel stove to the kitchen's suite of appliances. Since my last Kenmore disappointed, thought I'd try GE. It had good reviews, and this time I wasn't looking for anything really high-end. No convection, e.g. The range looks sleek and modern.
Qualities of the stove:
The long middle burner isn't very useful , since it cannot be used half-and-half. Otherwise the burner controls are good, grates seem good and stout.
Oven heats evenly and the back-of-the-stove touch controls are easy to use.
I wish the drip tray for the burners was black instead of gray.
It's not clear just how enduring the porcelain(I hope it is, anyway) finish will be.
The under-oven drawer's metal is somewhat flimsy-feeling.
On the whole, the important stuff -- fire, controls, oven, broiler is fine. Some of the
esthetics give away the price-level of the appliance.

I've had an electric range for over 30 years and I hated it. I always wanted a gas range but the wife wouldn't budge. I finally put my foot down and bought this range before I even had the gas line installed, and I'm so glad I did. I love the 5 burners and even bought the cast iron grill/griddle attachment before the stove even arrived. Once the gas line was installed I was of to the races and I haven't looked back. The wife doesn't cook at all but loves everything that I make. This stove is fantastic !!!!

Lovely to look at and it works beautifully! I do wish the top grates were marked as to placement as there is only one way to put them so figuring it out can take some time. Maybe marking them L, M, R?
