I don't know who designed this stove but it obviously isn't someone who has any experience cleaning stove tops. Why would you make an almost solid black cook top that will show every grain of salt and sugar not to mention smears from your rag? My previous GE profile range had a black/gray speckled top that would rarely show smears and grains of salt or sugar that would land on the area in between the burners . I know these tops need to be cleaned frequently but in between the times you use the special cleaner it's nice to not have every little speck or smear show. The reason I bought this stove was because it was in my price range and it has true convection and I really liked my old Profile range, it was 20 years old and it no longer matched my other appliances and the convection had stopped working otherwise I would have kept it. How many times do appliance makers have to hear the phrase, "This isn't as good as my old appliance," before they listen? I bought all new appliances 20 years ago and have been replacing them 1 by 1 these last two years and I'm not in the last bit impressed with any of them. If I could get new replacements of the old ones I had in different colors I would be a happy woman.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

All works well as it should for a new stove however there is still a internal banging while heating up wish I knew if that will go away or not

Heats evenly, efficiently

Compared to my old/former 30 yo stove, this stove/oven is a delight to cook on/in. I like how balanced my pots and pans sit on the flat glass top. I like the ability to match burner size to the pan allowing for a complete and evenly heated surface. The oven has three shelves; I use the bottom shelf to hold the protective liner which can not be put directly on the bottom of the oven (in order to avoid contact with the heating element).
I personally think the glass top is rather fussy to keep clean. I think there are already [permanent?] smudges forming on the cooktop. I use daily, generally after dinner, the Weiman Cook Top SPRAY cleaner which I find covers the surface more evenly than the lotion sample I received from the dealer/GE. I am concerned about scratching the glass surface.
I am transitioning from white appliances to stainless; I prefer the brightness of the white over the dark stainless steel and black cooktop. But I know that, for resale, most people want stainless.

We chose the GE range over other brands because of its reliability record in Consumer Reports, its online ratings and the larger storage drawer than competitors. This range is easy to use and cooks quickly and evenly. The stainless steel can be hard to clean of smudges, though. We have found rubbing alcohol wiped on and quickly wiped off seems to work the best. The oven makes loud banging sounds when heating up and cooling down.
I would recommend this to a friend!
