Looks like a sleek built in!

Great micro-hood which looks like a sleek built in due to flat front and integrated handle. Easy care, loaded with auto cook and steam cook features. Quiet operation- several vent settings. Express cook feature too-good job, GE.

Definitely not worth the price point

We bought this microwave in February 2017 as part of a full kitchen remodel and never began using it until April 2017 and by the end of October 2019 the unit was completely dead and we were offered a settlement check by our extended warranty, so that’s really just over a year and a half before it died. So now we are shopping for a new GE Slate Over the Range Microwave and hoping for more longevity. I felt it was important at this juncture to write a fair and honest review of my experience with this microwave. If my kitchen wasn’t completely decked out in GE Profile Slate, I would consider shopping elsewhere since this isn’t the first of my new appliances to breakdown.
Pros: the controls are on the bottom, no handle to yank off the door, very easy to clean interior, quick minutes buttons
Cons: incandescent lights on bottom burn out constantly due to filament breaking when the door is opened and closed (replaced at least 100x), recirculating charcoal filter is too expensive, light inside of oven isn’t bright, can’t see food cooking at all (hop up and down trying to see), control panel difficult to see even in my well lit kitchen, wattage is only 1050 on a 2.1 cf unit are you kidding. Most microwaves are much higher wattage except GE why?

control panel does not have a backlight, thereby making menu selections extremely difficult to read. To make matters worse the control panel has grey lettering on a black background!

Terrible I can’t even warm rice or soften buttet

If the microwave runs but is not heating, it could be one of many components.
Make sure the “Timer” function was not inadvertently used.
Check to ensure the door is closed firmly. Close it firmly, but do not slam. This confirms the engagement of the door's safety mechanisms.
For safety reasons, we offer no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to an internal high voltage capacitor (can hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged). Special equipment is generally needed to make a diagnosis.
If the above suggestions do not solve the problem and the microwave still won't heat, we recommend contacting service.

Backlight would help

I love the handle and the touch pads. I don’t love that the touch pads are not backlit so they are nearly impossible to see in low light

poor quality

We have owned this model for 3 years and in that time have had to call a repair service 3 times.The turn table motor went out just after warrany ended. Then the door switches went out. The last repair would have been for the transformer. Not putting any more money into it. This was poor manufacturing for GE. Will be junking this and buying something else.
