It seems sad to be this excited about a microwave, but this is a great microwave. It is very large and heats foods thoroughly.

Great Look, Clean Sleek Appearance!!!

We decided to upgrade our microwave with the modern look of this over-cooktop-microwave. We love the clean look and the spacious heated area. Would pay out of pocket for this microwave, hands down. Others in our neighborhood followed suit after seeing the final installation.

We bought this as a replacement for another brand that crapped out. Its a beautiful oven - matches a GE Profile range that we have. I am very pleased with the performance too. Great features for warming steaming defrosting and not a lot of gimmicks which never get used. Especially like the exhaust fan. Ours is vented outside and the fan does a great job exhausting the fumes from the range.

Second time around

Bought the unit. Failed in 18 months. Door and motherboard out if warranty. Bought second unit as it was a perfect fit. Filed warranty and during conversation mentioned problem with previous unit. GE paid to have it looked at and willing to pay for parts but not labor. Already bought replacement so they gave me $100. That was cheaper than the parts so I guess they came out ok.
I have $900 in one good unit. On it the door isn’t tight at hinges so it’s a little looser than it should be. When its working its a nice unit.

This unit combines most of the features and the form we were looking for along with solid GE quality we've come to love. The only minor knocks are on installation difficulty (self-install), door size, night light functionality, and usability around entering a custom time.
I self-installed the unit, so many of the issues revolved around my own install space and misunderstanding the directions. Pay extra attention to the template mounting to ensure the holes drilled in the top of the cabinet line up correctly. The unit sits a little lower than the standard-sized Samsung we replaced, so we had to remove a row of glass tile backsplash to allow for the bracket.
The door is very large, and it takes getting used to opening it. You have to really give yourself enough space for it to swing out - more than a standard microwave.
We noticed there is no night light functionality on this unit. We came to appreciate that about our old microwave. You could configure an auto on/off for the night light, which gave a little light in the kitchen at night. Not a major issue, but certainly a function we just assumed was present on all microwaves today (it was present on a different GE at a prior home as well).
Finally, we have noticed that when entering custom times (say 1:15 VS 1:00 or 1:30), you have to press start twice - once to confirm the time, and once to actually start the microwave. This is a minor inconvenience, but from a usability standpoint, the extra button press is unnecessary.
On the positives, this unit has large capacity, fantastic style, and functions great for us. The cook is great, and we love having the one-touch cook times - press 1 and the microwave starts running with 1 minute on the clock. The fan works great for a recirculating fan. Draws a nice volume of air, and is a little quieter than our outgoing Samsung.
Overall, we are very please with this purchase. It will suit us well for many years to come.
