Almost 3 years and DEAD

This microwave was a bad choice. After almost 3 years of use all it does now is make a clicking sound. The display panel is black and does not function.

Three things wrong

1. You can't see your food cooking -- the inside light is super dim. 2. The control buttons are super hard to push -- you have to press hard in just the right location. 3. When it's dark, you can't see the control buttons to press them -- they have no backlighting.

We did want to say that all microwaves have a window in the door that has a mesh screen inside of it. This screen helps keep the microwaves inside the cavity, and is a necessary part of the microwave.
You may find that the screen makes it difficult to see your food as it is cooking. Although it is difficult to see detail, the window should allow you to see if there are any problems while cooking, like arcing, burning, boilovers, etc. If you need to check on your food, opening the door will pause the microwave.
Your control panel shouldn't take a tremendous amount of effort to press on the various buttons. If you're finding that it takes lots of effort to make selections, service may be needed. If you need our team, they can be found here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm

Broke after only 5 years

I love the look of this microwave but a top of the line microwave should not keep breaking after less than 5 years. I've had it repaired 2 times now and keeps happening.

I loved this microwave so much, that when the first one died after only 5 or 6 years, I ordered the same model to replace it. It’s intuitive to use, roomy, easy to clean. And, beautiful!

Great overall with 1 important caveat.

At the 3 year mark this microwave began tripping a breaker. I learned that one of the door switches was likely the culprit. After changing out the faulty switch, everything functioned normally for another 60 days. Now another switch has gone bad. These 2 or 3 internal switches related to the door closure aren’t a huge deal to replace in terms of the cost of the part, but that a microwave presents it’s own particular hazards when servicing internal parts, having it repaired by a local appliance repair shop becomes quite expensive when their charges are factored in. Overall a 4 only due to these weaker mechanical type of internal parts, heats evenly, easy to use, attractive in our kitchen that matches all,of our other Profile appliances, and have always relied on GE for quality behind the cabinet where you can’t see. Hopefully GE has addressed this issue on this 2018 Profile Model and simply required these particular mechanical parts be a bit more robust under normal use with no children in the home slamming the door shut.

This is the worst microwave I have ever owned

Let me start by saying this, considerable research went into the purchase of this product. Historically, I have stood by GE profile products; however, this product has consistently let me down since the date of purchase one year ago. In less than eight months the microwave began to malfunction and required service from a GE technician. After a complete internal overhaul, the microwave still does not perform in accordance to manufacturer specifications. Specifically, the microwave does not heat evenly, as indicated by the manufacturer. Additionally, the microwave makes a loud sound when rotating. This is completely unacceptable for a GE product! Although I purchased an extended warranty, frequent manufacturer deficiencies has caused great inconvenience to my family.

Adequate product

This microwave oven is a decent enough insurance replacement item. It does have one minor issue and that is with the exhaust fan. Our previous microwave died after 20 years and the insurance offered a replacement or money. We should have taken the money and bought a better microwave than this one. Although it cooks well enough, the fan doesn’t dissipate the lingering cooking aromas like our original microwave did so well. The fan is noisy and doesn’t seem to dispense with cooking odors in a timely manner.

Looks good but falling apart

I love the way this microwave looks and it had good reviews. We have only had this microwave 4months and a random piece of the door broke off (it doesn’t affect the working) and now the filter door just fell off! I don’t get it…it’s two very random things. It’s only my husband and I and we don’t even use the microwave every day and it’s falling apart. I don’t know if I would purchase this model again. In the picture notice the filter door and on the door corner piece broken.
