Interesting design poor lighting

The interesting design of the control panel is in the bottom center makes this range look sleek and clean and is a large part of why I chose this unit. Unexpected, though I might have known if I thought about, is that the door is several inches wider than another oven of the same capacity and when opening the door it is necessary to step back further from the oven in order to swing the door fully open. Not a big issue, but certainly something to be aware of and to get used to. Additionally, I was used to a Panasonic oven with sensor reheat and this was a feature that was one of my criteria. The Panasonic allowed me to place whatever I wanted in the oven and press the button without having to indicate what was being reheated. This oven requires additional steps to select what kind of food is being reheated and this a huge learning curve. I have to guess if what I'm reheating fits any of the four categories and if it doesn't, I have to figure out how to reheat. This is certainly trial and error and has been a pain point for me. I have used the sensor cook feature for potatoes and I have to say that feature is GREAT. Lastly, the light meant to shine on the stovetop below is so dim as to be all but useless. Additionally, the light creates a lot of heat if used. Mostly, I am not using the light. I posed a question hoping someone with GE or otherwise would be able to suggest an LED replacement bulb but the only reply I had was from GE and it simply pointed me to the manual for a replacement bulb (which I had already reviewed). I am planning to try an LED replacement at some point, but it would have been great for GE to help me with their opinion on if it should work without issue. All in all, I'm happy with this unit but not sure I would choose it again if I were starting over.

Great features!

This microwave is a replacement for a GE Profile microwave that was installed new in 2005. We certainly got our mileage of out the first one, and look forward to many years of trouble free use with this one! This GE Profile microwave offers all the features we were looking for, and is performing as expected.
