Door design flaw

On the GE Profile MWO PVM9005SJ8SS, the door is designed to sit outside the surrounding cabinets - not within them. The door is hinged in a way that when it opens, it moves outside the width of the cabinet. So if the microwave is installed in the 30" space it is designed for, the door will not open - or will only partially open. The door of my microwave only opens half way before the edge of the door hits the cabinet frame. At some point, the door is going to break.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Please know a standard installation, it needs 13" max cabinet depth. A 15” cabinet depth requires additional steps using an additional installation kit JX15BUMPWW/BB. I purchased this microwave to match the GE Profile Gas Range that I purchased the month before. I reviewed the reviews and decided to go through purchasing. Installation was easy and we could use the same bracket that we had for the Maytag we replaced with minor modifications to the existing bracket. Unit is quieter and lighter than the 2006 Maytag we replaced. It’s true that seeing the food is harder w the darker screen and the buttons are a little harder to press but nothing troublesome about it. Door is wider due to the design and nothing troublesome. The exhaust works well too. The underneath lighting is brighter. Well worth the money. The unit is solid w opening and closing the door w no additional noise.
I would recommend this to a friend!
