Multiple problems
on December 16, 2024
Posted by: Shac88
I reviewed this microwave before, that its control panel died at about 2 years old. We were able to fix it and it seems to be a common problem with many brands of microwaves. I guess they are all made in the same few factories.
But now we have a new issue the plastic upper panel inside just broke and fell out. There is no fixing this piece. So the microwave is junk. More expensive to fix than buy a new one.

Dangerous

Riddled with problems. The plastic piece o. The upper part of the inside broke after a week and can’t be replaced. We had to tape it up with duct tape to keep in closed. Now 5 years after we bought it, it’s completely dead. It kept tripping the breaker and then when you reset the breaker it turns on by itself with intense power the boiled over water in less than 10 seconds. This is dangerous.

DON'T BUY G.E.!

If I could leave less than 1 star I would. The first problem was less than a year after buying it. Stopped working and they sent a repair company. 4 months later it broke again. After it was fixed, it broke again. It took the repair company 5 times of fixing it and it still doesn't work. The light underneath won't even work properly. The manufacturer date is in 2023. Less than 2 years after making it and it's good for nothing but a clock.

Elec. switch to heating element failed under 2 yrs
on February 17, 2025
Posted by: GNicoll
The switches to the heating element failed when the product was 9 months over the initial year warranty. I know I didn't sign up up for the extended warranty but I expected much better from a GE product. I will be careful before I buy any additional GE products.

We want to help out with your microwave not operating properly. We recommend trying an electronic reset. This can be done by removing the power cord for 2-3 minutes then plugging it back in.

In the meantime, we will be reaching out over email to collect additional information. Please respond at your earliest convenience.

Changes are not always good

I have owned the same exact model for about 5 years. I had no issues with it until a power surge put it out of commission. It appears that repairs would cost about as much as buying a new one. The only issue I have with the new one is that you modified it. Made it smaller. Moved mounting screw position. Made my backsplash tile work a new project. It’s a shame that you modified it and left it the same model

Pretty good microwave oven
on February 22, 2025

This GE Profile microwave oven works well. It only has one small light under it. Two lights that are brighter would be an improvement. The one light is not that bright.
The buttons are kinda had to push, you really have to push them to turn things on/off.
The overall construction of the oven is solid.

smart product

It was a good guess by the techs down at GE that when somebody presses 1,2,3,4 or 5 as one of the first numbers, that the user would probably like at least that many minutes. So, instead of pressing more buttons, the microwave just starts running for that many minutes. If you need to add time, just press the add 30 button for an addtional 30 secondes. Buttons on microwaves that say "quick 30" but don't actually start right away for a 30 second run, instead waiting for you to also press the start button...REALLY ANNOY ME! :) Quick start means get on it right away.
Thank you GE tech guys, u got it right.

Terrible looking front panel.

When light hits the bottom panel of the microwave where all the controls are housed, it looks like a wrinkled mess. When the microwave is being used it's impossible to see inside due to the low level lighting.
