Worked 4 years and quit

This unit is 4 years old and entirely quit working, after normal residential use. It has a one-year warranty, so apparently I just have to but a new microwave that isn't GE.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It is a microwave

It's a microwave. One of many on the market. There really is nothing remarkable about it. It works. It works fine. It Bluetooth paired with our new GE stove, which is one of the reasons we bought it. Since purchasing it I have seen other microwaves that mde me wonder why GE didn't do something more remarkable with the unit, like LED surface lighting. The window is very small, and while I know it is not GEs fault that I am not tall, it is difficult to see what is happening inside the unit.

A disappointing start

Smaller capacity than old version of the same model. Old model had 2 bulbs for use when cooking, since this is above the stove, this has 1 barely useful bulb (less than a nightlight).
So far, real disappointed GE took steps backwards.

Do Not Buy, Model Significantly Changed

We purchased this model in 2019 and really liked it until it stopped working in 2025. So we purchased the exact same model ( PVM9005SJSS) to replace it.
However GE has changed everything about it and made it cheaper, smaller, and noisier. So many nice features were deleted. What a rip off.
The box shows the PVM9005SJSS, but in much smaller print and on the sticker in the microwave it
says the model is now PVM9005SJ8SS.

The capacity says 2.1 cf still but the physical opening is 3” narrower and 1” shorter. But never fear! GE bulged out the sides for those oval dishes to keep that 2.1 size, nevermind you couldn’t fit the dish in anymore.
The unit weighs at least 5lbs lighter because they shrank the magnetron, so now it takes twice as long to heat anything! Wow, that is a nice feature too!
Buyer beware in 2025, don’t make the same mistake we did. Get another brand of appliance.
This one is going to the scrap heap.

The '8' located in the model number located physically on your microwave indicates the series of the model (this is the 8th series of this model). Your feedback is extremely important to us. Microwave is less than 3 years old and is completely shot! Started sparking and smoking this morning.i was so excited to finally have aesthetically pleasing appliances in my kitchen and to free up counter space with an above range microwave. It’s now junk that is a fire hazard if plugged in. I do not recommend this product.

Not happy with the quality of this product. We ordered it because our previous GE Profile Microwave died and wanted the same to match our oven/stove. The size is smaller and is now an issue for the space in the kitchen. The door handle has a plastic ridge that actually hurts your fingers. It is a cheap remake for the same price. So very disappointed! Do not buy!

The newer version of this microwave is slightly shorter in height; however, the depth dimension remains the same. This newer version does have a Sync Auto Off features so Setting 6 = Sync Auto Off and Setting 7 = Exit. It is our hope that the more you use your new microwave the more you will like it.
