Steam Feature ROCKS!

After researching many different brands of dishwashers, I settled on GE due to the features it has and the ratings it received. I wasn't disappointed. Some of the reviews said it was a bit loud, so when it was installed I had the installer add the insulation from the old dishwasher over the insulation that came with this one, and the result was an extra quiet dishwasher. The steam feature loosens even the most dried foods and allows it to be washed away. The only thing you have to watch is the steam vent on the top left during the drying mode...the steam really pours out. If you have a laminate counter top above it, it could cause the plastic to separate from the wood over time in that area, or even cause the wood to disintegrate. Make sure you have the installer pull the dishwasher far enough forward so that steam clears the counter top and doesn't get caught underneath it.

This takes up to 3 hrs to clean my dishes longer than my old one. It is however much much quieter. On the top rack the corners don't seem to clean as well as other parts of the dishwasher

We have this dishwasher in a rental house. Its user friendly, does a great job, and I love the steam feature. It sterlizes very well.
