I have a roku3 and a roku4.The only complaint i have is the remote sound drops out constantly and i dont care if you use their earbuds or a headset..the reason i bought them is for private listening but that turns out to be just a joke.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This was my first Roku, and I'm sorry I waited. It's a well done product with excellent usability. Streaming quality is excellent and far surpasses multiple other options I've tried (Windows PC, Blu-Ray player). The setup is straight forward and easy to complete. Video and audio output are very good. The USB port allows me to use media I already own. The headphone output on the remote that automatically mutes the speaker output is excellent (and wireless).
Setup on the Roku website encountered errors. If you don't already have an account, you'll need to go through some steps twice. There's no explanation on the site, so you'll have to figure out some backtrack steps by yourself.

I upgraded from a Roku 3 to the Roku 4. I considered and weighed options between the newest Amazon Fire TV & Apple TV. Amazon and Apple prefer you to watch their content vs. Roku's universal content search. The few problems I have with Roku are actually not Roku's fault. First - 5.1 channel surround support is controlled by content creators. My 5.1 surround system is Dolby Pro Logic, but not DPL+ which Netflix, VUDU and all others. Second - Amazon Music, as good as it is on the web and phone doesn't give me prime music on Roku. I'm sure that's a business decision at Amazon but I've found a couple workarounds I can live with. Amazon not supporting Prime Music on Roku is only hurting Amazon because I'm buying music from other choices now. You can think this doesn't hurt Amazon much until you realize my friends and family make choices based on many of my recommendations.

App selection and 4k features are far better than the smart features on my television.

I updated to a Roku 4

I had a Roku 2X, which we had enjoyed, but, recently we bought a 4K Ultra HD, which had some streaming channels already on it, but it didn't have Acorn, for which I had a subscription so I updated to a Roku 4. I love the new Roku. It costs a little more, but I think it's because it was made for the ultra high definition televisions, and you use a HDMI cable on it also. I really can't comment on how easy it was to set it up because the Geek Squad, who set up our television, also set up the Roku for us, but it only took a few minutes.
