Works Great.

Super fast menu. Plays video's great on Netflix and play super fast. AC wireless connects fast. Usb plays perfect. Going from a Roku 2 original player which I still use on another tv to Roku 4 is a giant leap in performance.

The product works great with the exception of the cooling fan. It is really noticeable. It looks like they would have done something about it even if they would have to have made the box bigger. It comes on even when your not using it.

After reading all the bad reviews about the Roku 4 I was very apprehensive about purchasing one. However, the company I work for gave me one as a gift for my 10th anniversary. I was excited and relieved I didn't have to put out the money. Set up was quick and painless and I was up and going in just a few minutes. I have a Roku 3 so I was already familiar with the interface and features. The reviews about overheating and fan noise kept me on my toes for a while. There was no fan noise and it didn't get any warmer than the Roku 3. I've had it now for 3 weeks and have put it through it's paces. So far it has worked perfect with no glitches. I see a noticeable improvement in picture quality over the Roku 3. I don't have a 4k tv but the 1080p is great. Sound quality is good but not any different than the Roku 3. Speed may be a little faster than the 3 but nothing that makes much difference. The fact that I got it as a gift was great but knowing what I know now I would definitely buy one if the need were there.

I have experience with the new Apple TV, the Amazon Fire 4K, and the Roku 4. I will note I am using a 4K TV, so that capability was important to me. The Roku was my preferred choice after lots of experiments. Great picture quality, nice interface, fast search, easy setup. Only two gripes: videos from UBS port are choppy (and it doesn't matter what format), and Roku lacks the Siri/Alexa general query features of Apple TV and Amazon. Amazon has a UBS port, but doesn't offer any built in apps for using it. Apple TV lacks 4K, but works with iTunes. so no device is perfect, but the Roku comes close.

This Roku replaces an old Popcorn Hour A-110 and a Chromecast. Most importantly, it's "babysitter-compatible", so grandparents or sitters can now easily set up a movie for the kids while we're away. Unfortunately, it's also easy enough for one of my three-year-olds to pick his own shows on Netflix, but that's not Roku's fault.
We've only had the Roku for 3 days, and still learning, but everything's been easy so far. I heard that fan noise might be a problem with the Roku 4, but haven't noticed it yet and doubt I will between the other noises in our house. This might also be due to our lack of a 4K display right now. I'll try to update this review when we upgrade.
My favorite bits so far:
1) "Spousal Acceptance Factor" - My wife is fine with excess technology, but ease of use is important to both of us. This has it.
2) Using Plex with the Plex server on my Synology NAS for viewing our own DVD rips and photos.
3) Finally using Amazon Prime streaming, which has otherwise been too inaccessible for us to use.
4) And of course Netflix, TED, YouTube, and myriad other channels I've yet to explore.
5) "Find the remote" - I didn't think I'd need this in the first 3 days, but glad it was there.

Cord-cutting went from inconceivable to a viable choice on the first night.
Cons:
1) Apparently the older versions had a wrist strap for the remote, which might have been useful for some of the games. This isn't a big deal though, as we didn't really get this for games.

Overall, I regret waiting as long as I did to get this, but now I'm happy that I did.

It doesn't take a genius to see that streaming is becoming more predominate in the marketplace. Roku's ahead of the curve on this one!

Beautiful Plex interface and great feature channel lineup. HD streaming from internet or intranet (inside home) has been stable and lag free. Frustrated with other streamers, wish I would have bought this first.
