Roku 4 is ALMOST perfect!

I purchased the Roku 4 to replace an old Sony Blu-Ray player as my primary living room streaming device. It is blindingly fast and I absolutely love it. The only problem I am having is that sometimes it completely locks up after it's been shut down for a long period forcing you to pull the power cable and reset the unit. Hopefully this is a minor problem that will be fixed soon with a firmware update. Other than that, fantastic unit! Very happy with it thus far aside from the random lock up issue.

Bought this to replace a DLNA Blu-ray player and am happy with the increased features it offers. There are 2 features I wish it had though. First the ability to power off, I wanted to use it with a HDMI switcher but the switcher won't work because the Roku is always on. Second I wish there was a way to have it play the next file in a folder when using it with my Plex, it could show to next file and automatically play it after a few seconds kind of like Netflix does when watching a season.

The device is fantastic and easy to use. There are so many options there really isn't any reason to keep your cable.

Who needs Apple and Firefox

I have been using iTV and Firefox for streaming. Since purchasing my Roku I really don't need either of the other two. With this unit I get all the features and more than the other two. Easy to set up and great streaming features. Love it.

Beware HDMI type required for 4K - stay Roku 3?

I have a one year old Sony 950B TV and a 6 month old Marantz Auro 3d capable receiver but the Roku 4 somehow demands a newer HDMI connection type than my recent components support. So my 4K Netflix and Amazon content will continue to come from my Sony TV apps and the Roku 4 is offerning not much more than my Roku 3 did.

God in a box

It's faster than all of my other smart devices. It does 4K and never crashes like my old roku2. It's basically God in a box.

I've had the Roku 4 for a couple of weeks now and it is GREAT! In fact, I am ordering a second one for my other 4K TV. I couldn't be more satisfied.
