Overheats

The Roku4 is a great unit, however it continually overheats. It needs to have a design change so that the unit dissipates heat better.

The picture quality of this Roku 4 is great but I don't want to pay for EVERYTHING I watch! I could watch some free streaming videos of puppies or cute kittens but each movie or regular TV show costs a lot of money. If I only watched a couple of shows every week then it might be worth it but in a year I record 40-50 different shows regularly so this format is not even close to being cost efficient compared to my current TV content provider. I will be returning it. The picture is really good though.

Serious downgrade.

Serious downgrade from roku 3. I've had to reset this more times in the 4 months I've had it than I did my roku 3 in 3 years. Performance is not noticeably better than the 3 when it does work. It has a fan where the 3 didn't, making it much louder. Save yourself some money and go with a roku 3. If you do get this put it upside-down so you can get to the reset button easier.

I bought a month ago and am not happy with it. It worked good for a short time but the picture on Netflix, and hula is blurred and not clear. I own amazon fire, apple 3rd generation and the Roku 2 that all work better than this unit.
Reason for purchase was because I recently bought the LG 55EG9600 and wanted the 4k content. Sorry to have made the purchase of the Roku 4.

Good, but dissapointed it requiring HDCP 2.2

Very disappointed that it required HDCP 2.2 I had a brand new 4K tv that was HDCP 2.0 compliant, but the Roku would not connect to it. Bought another brand new tv because of this, which came with the Netflix app, so may be returning the Roku. Bad move. Also, not sure the 4k stuff really streams 4k. May just be a Netflix thing, but no real noticeable difference in quality.

not worth it

I've been using a Roku 3 for years and I was pretty excited about the release of the Roku 4. Unfortunately it's not as great as I thought it would be. It's not any faster than my Roku 3, performance wise. It freezes and randomly stops playback and returns to the home screen. I love the time and temperature screen saver, I've been using it for years and it's really great waking up and having that information available at a glance! But with the Roku 4 the screen saver stops after a while and the screen just goes black. This is probably the main reason I'm returning my Roku 4 and just going to stick with my Roku 3. Also the headphone Jack on the remote is a great feature, but it stops working after a few minutes and doesn't work at all with some channels.

Still needs work

I bought this model because I knew it was going to be faster than the 3rd model. It is indeed however there is a glaring issue that is still present even after updating the device. If you run the Roku 4 through a receiver a lot of users including myself have severe audio sync problems. I contacted Roku support only to be told that they can't help me with my issue. But there is one big complication in this whole thing. My Roku 3 did not have this problem at all. I have played with all the audio settings and I cannot get it to play the audio in sync with the video especially with when playing video from a USB drive. Until this is fixed I may have to return the device as this is one of the reasons I bought it.
