I initially bought Roku4 early November but the fan was loud! Roku replaced it and now I have no problems. Its a little bigger than the Roku 3 but its still small/sleek. Always like the earbuds in the remote. Like that you can get Amazon and Sling

Best mass-market streamer available

I gave myself a Roku 4 for my birthday, even though I had a Roku 3 less than 6 months old and two other streaming devices -- one running Kodi and an older Amazon Fire. I also have an older TV with 1080 resolution, but no 4K. So why the upgrade?
Playback is smoother -- you see much less of the strobing that happens when streaming live sports. Sound quality is far bigger and better than with the Roku 3, and the wireless connection is faster. If unused, the Roku 4 automatically goes into sleep mode, saving energy. Set up was a snap -- all I had to was log in to my Roku account to download the 100+ apps that I use (some, not very often, admittedly). The huge selection of Roku channels and customizable interface makes it my streaming device of choice. Only a volume control and mute button on the remote are the features obviously missing.
I gave up cable earlier this year and now stream all my viewing, mostly commercial free. It's such a superior and more affordable way to watch movies and shows that I wonder why all Amaericans don't do it. Only the most die hard NFL fans should remain connected to their expensive cable packages, and for them, ever more streaming options are available.

The Roku 4 is very easy to use and setup. A very convenient way to access ALL the streaming services you use on a TV. A cord-cutter's dream.

Confusing for a first time user

So I just got my Roku 4 and my plan is to cut the cord and use this little device for all my entertainment needs. So far it's working out ok but I am having trouble finding actual channels to watch. I know u have to have a subscription to HULU and so on but for me its all overwhelming trying to figure out where or what service is best for me. That has noting to do with the Roku it's self but in using this type of device in general. The one complaint I do have with my Roku4 for is how I the world do I turn it off and on?? If I leave it plugged in without using it while I am at work I come home to find it "off" no picture. I push all the buttons on the remote but the only way I have found to get it working again is to unplug it and plug it back in. Surly there is some other way to get it going again.
