My only concern is that machine gets pretty warm so I dont leave machine plugged in when not using it. Not hot enough to cook eggs like a frying pan but close to that.

This is actually the third Roku I have purchased. I have both a Roku stick for a bedroom TV and was previously using a Roku 3 for my living room TV. I upgraded my living room TV to a 4K set a few months ago and while the Roku 3 was able to stream without any major issues the picture quality was never quite the same as it was for watching the built in smart channels (I can access more content through Roku which is why I continued to use it). I finally upgraded to the 4 about a week ago and so far so good! There aren't any major changes as far as the actual platform is concerned; however it is faster, the picture quality is better, and I love that you can press a button on the top of the box to locate the remote (triggers a noise to sound out of the remote). The only issue I had was in syncing it to my soundbar, I initially fixed this by using an optic cable instead of the HDMI but the second time I used it the HDMI did work so this may have been a function of my soundbar/TV rather than the Roku itself. The only true negative I can think of is the size, which is much larger than the Roku 3 making it somewhat un-mountable on the back of a TV without blocking vents. I fully recommend it if you have a 4K TV, but due to the size, if you have a standard HDTV, I would probably recommend saving a few dollars and going with the Roku 3.

The best for 4k streaming. Plenty of content for everyone in the family. Easy enough that the kids can use it.

I have had the Roku 4 for almost a month now, and I love it, the speed, and the quality of the picture, even on a 1080p TV is incredible. I go this weekend to buy a 4K TV, and I am looking forward to seeing the quality of the images. I cut the cord almost 4 years ago, I have had the Roku HD, Roku 3 and now the Roku 4, and I will say, each step has brought vast improvements over the previous generations. Even if you have a 1080p TV, this unit is worth it, you will definitely notice a difference in picture quality. I was disappointed that there wasn’t a difference in the operating system, but at least it was familiar to me. Overall a great product.

I really liked my Roku 3 and then I upgraded my TYS to 4K. I thought to myself, it would be nice if there was a Ruku that was 4K and I didn't expect to find it this soon, but it was already out. Installed easy and is working great. As far as other people's comments about fan noise, I have 2 now and thereally is no fan noise, but they do run hot so I would place it in a space that gets good air flow.

I purchased my Roku 4 four days ago as a recommendation from a friend. 1. From the beginning I was not happy that I had to provide a credit card just to open an account and get my Roku 4 to work. I considered returning it for that reason alone. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime accounts and will not pay for any additional features so why must I provide a credit card? If for some reason I did decide to purchase a movie or subscription, then I should be able to pay at that time. 2. Another problem I am having is static from using the remote earphones. It will be working great and then the sound gets choppy and distorted. Sometimes I will get out of Netflix and go back in a few times and it will fix the problem or I remove the earphones and it works fine with the TV speakers, but that defeats the purpose of trying to be quiet. 3. Why isn't there an "on/off" button or an "exit" option that shuts the program down? I do not want this connected to my internet 24/7 drawing any speed from my service or running in the background. Now I unplug it every time I am finished using it which is annoying; also, I know the little light does not draw a lot of energy, but if you sell 10 million or more of these units that adds up so you get my point. Create an on/off button.

Tons of free apps to download and good to go (live streaming and previous seasons of popular series, etc.).
I read in reviews about being noisy and getting overheated. None of that is true. I have had it for a week and it is plugged in 24 X 7. Very quiet and no issues with over heating.
