The Best ! ! !

Received 2 of these Roku 4's as christmas gifts to upgrade from the older roku 3's for both of our newer 4k tvs. These newer roku 4's are the best of all the rokus. The extra features like finally the ability to power off, and dolby digital which now is streaming through the hdmi connected to the tv first and then passed through to the sound bar (a truly exquisite update!), and of course the upscaling. I did learn that all content that is less than 1080p is only upscaled to 1080p and not to 2160p (or 4k) but only original 1080p content is upscaled to 2160p (or 4k). But none the less this is truly the best roku yet !!!

I bought my Roku 4 two weeks ago. I am enjoying the system. While the set-up instructions are easy to follow, I have found know instructions for the remote nor is there any info regarding the unit having no on off switch. I called the chat line to confirm that the unit is to stay on all the time, and that the unit while it runs hot has a fan to prevent over heating. Some info on the above would be helpful.

I can finally use my UHD TV!

Received this for Christmas and I'm very pleased. I can finally use my 4k TV as it was intended. For the most part the device is the same as my Roku3, however the menus are smoother and faster. The remote locator feature is great. Everything should have that. I'm not as big a fan of this version of the remote, though. For one, I could live without the 'brand' buttons on the remote, but that's no big deal. I do also miss the wrist strap that was on the Roku3 remote. I don't know why, I just do. Finally, they replaced the 'back 5 seconds button' with a search button. It's also not a big deal, but I prefer the other one. In all honesty, I'll probably just use my Roku3 remote with it.

Was excited to purchase this item especially now that you can turn it off. But while using it I was hit with audio output delays/seizures while watching a musical film when they started singing. It was a good thing I have a blu-ray copy of the film. I'm still waiting on the fix for this, really waiting. All this means for me right now is I can't watch musicals on this. At least for now. Will try again when a new update is applied.

Streaming features work well; remote questionable.

The streaming capabilities and features work well. There is an automatic power down/power on feature that does not work well with the HDMI input on my VIZIO tv. I have installed a powered outlet so that I can manually turn on the power to the ROKU. The remote control that accompanied the unit routinely fails to connect, and I must re-initialize the remote on a daily basis. I have elected to use the ROKU smartphone application in lieu of the remote, and the application works much better than the ROKU remote control.
