Great Apps

I find the apps and channels on the Roku 4 work great and the quality of the video even on an ordinary 1080p flatscreen is superb. However, this is my 3rd roku player. I moved one to upstairs and I burned out the second Roku player whilst I was trying to organize the channels and apps. However, I did find a solution through an app called "My Channels" and have been able to organize my channels by news, documentaries, etc. Which is by far easier than having to rearrange the channels everytime I install a new roku player.

Finally got it working...

I bought this 2.5 months ago and I just recently got it working. First unit mailed to me was defective. I had a friend who has ROKU come by and try to install, and he said something is wrong with it. I called an complained, and they, ROKU, sent a working replacement. Had my friend come by again, but we didn't have all the right codes. Another week went by and I keep trying to figure it out with others' over the phone, and then - success! Now the unit is working and I signed up with Netflix. Lots of stuff to watch. Still learning the device. I think you need to be computer/programing devices savvy. I'm NOT! I had a bad experience, but maybe my condition would be different from others. Now pleased with the ROKU unit. Should have paid a teenager to hook it up!

Problems, problems

The first Roku4 I purchased lasted only about 63 days before Roku support declared it 'defective', provided a ticket number and had me replace it with a new one from a local retailer. The first one ran hot to the touch. Program lockups and image freezes were common occurrences, using a 24mb ATT Uverse download. As a programmer from the long ago, I suspected this is a software problem more than hardware. I'll see how the replacement unit performs.

A vast improvement

A vast improvement in speed over my old Roku1, which is now doing service on my bedroom TV.
I have not heard any fan since I plugged it in to my new Vizio 60-inch M series 4K tv. It does sometimes feel warm to the touch, but so what?
It streams Sling TV 100% percent faster than the original Roku.
I can't really find much 4k content yet, but this will work with it, I'm sure. It streams everything else at the highest quality resolution possible, automatically. The remote is much better than on the original Roku.
Many of the complaints about this come from technically challenged people whose TVs are probably too old to take advantage of what this box can do.
If you stream TV, you need this, even though it is expensive now and the price will probably drop.
