Streaming with Roku

I purchased this 4k Roku this week and the verdict is still out. Access to programming is good but will be expensive a la carte. Many of the apps only show snippets of shows and not full segments. I have the highest rated Internet access and still have to deal with buffering. The system seems to require resetting frequently. There's probably more traffic than normal due to bowl games so I'll wait for a couple of weeks to pass judgment.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Form - some power issues playing movies

This was a Christmas gift. I also have 3 other Roku 3's. I use it mainly with my PLEX media server. I thought with its greater memory and being able to handle 4K, it would not have any issues handling 1080P movies played via PLEX server. It still buffers on some movies.

The accessing channels process is taunting. 1 week of frustration and I finally found the simplest way of accessing. The system needs to be much more intuitive. NOW I think I can really enjoy.

I purchased a Roku 4 recently, and setting it up was the easiest experience I've ever had. The menus are very intuitive, and the remote control has the buttons you use most right where you want them!

The Roku 4 is a great addition to my home entertainment system and works very well, It's easy to set it up and get going on my Wired Network and is supper fast loading the streaming video's with out having to stop and start all the time. The only thing I can think of to make it any better would be to remember a list of my logins so when I add a App. I could click on a list of logins I've used and select the proper one for that application. Keep up the good work Roku!

Most amazing Roku to date!

I own the Roku stick, and 2 Roku 2's. While this is a larger unit, the benefits far outweigh the dimensions. First off, the loading speed of this Roku blows my mind! As soon as you click on an app or the home button, you are there. The loading times for Sling, Netflix, Plex, Hulu, Amazon and other apps that I use are absolutely amazing. This unit was purchased because I wanted the ability for earbuds while my wife sleeps ;) and this does a great job. With volume control on the remote, everything I need is in one remote. The wireless antenna built in (I imagine the larger surface area incorporates this internal antenna) is top notch as I have had ZERO wireless signal issues with the Roku 4, and I have with the other 2 Roku units I mentioned previously. I do not own a 4K TV so I cannot speak on the graphics, but this Roku is up to speed technology wise and ready for the evolving TV technology curve.

Replacement for New Amazon Fire TV Stick

It's night and day. I only had my Fire TV Stick for a couple months, but it would frequently lose access to the network (requiring 2 minutes of leaving it unplugged) and I hadn't realized how restrictive Amazon was becoming (they seem to want to be the new Apple). Que entry of the Roku 4, replacement to my brand new Fire TV Stick.
Roku bests Amazon at just about everything though the Amazon remote is better feeling, smaller, and just slicker in general and Amazon has android games.
I've only had the Roku a few days, but so far it's been very nice. Voice search across multiple channels, it's responsive, has a local media player to play my personal movies, and just has a lot of options.
Some cons: No parental controls - I want to restrict my 5 year old from adding/removing channels or being able to purchase something. I was able to setup a pin for purchases, but not for adding/removing channels. It's a really big oversight...
Local media player - has some pretty restrictive requirements forcing me to transcode my movies into something it understands. And then it doesn't support chapters so I can't jump to a scene easily - it's like a VCR where you have to fast forward or rewind and wait for it to get to the place you want. That's backwards... It also says you can add your own artwork by adding a jpg or png file, but I can't get it to work. That's my first ticket to Roku support.
