Couldn't get it set up

I returned the Roku and exchanged it for another unit. I had a little better success with the second unit but was still unable to receive the activation code after trying for days. I finally gave up after rebooting everything multiple times. I am returning the unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works Great but had a hiccup

I wanted to watch Netflix on my TV instead of my computer, so I bought the Roku 4. It was supposed to work wirelessly. However, my router is in our basement and the TV is on the main floor about 30 feet away. I found that the device would not work using the wireless option, unless I moved it much closer to the router. My laptop computer, iPhone, and iPad all work fine wirelessly in any part of our house. The Roku said that the signal strength was "Excellent", but would not work without extensive buffering times at the TV. I ended up running a network cable to the device from the router. It works great! Everything is fast and works great. I was able to run it through our sound system and the picture and sound experience is pretty awesome.
I can recommend it, just beware that the wireless function may not work.

Good features few issues

Good assortment of channels and easy to navigate. Voice search works well. Daughter uses nick jr app and have to constantly login into tv provider. Has frozen while using app and restarted.

The R-4 is great when (if) it continues to work

I purchased my first Roku 4 in November 2015. By December 30 it has needed to be replaced twice--I now have my third unit. After about 3-4 weeks it suddenly placed large sporadic black bars on my regular cable channels and stopped working on all Roku subscriptions including Netflix and Vudu. Store said it won't replace it again and I must contact Roku directly if it again fails. When it works it wonderful; especially the voice remote and headphone capability. I had a Roku 2 which worked flawlessly and bought the R4 for the additional features and speed. Think it is a great device but (for me) had proven to be unreliable. The latest unit has been working for two weeks. The others failed after three. . .we'll see.

Amazing

I have had this for a week or two and it is by far way better than the roku 2. It is a lot faster and the picture quality even looks better when streaming.
