I picked up a Roku 4 for two main reasons: to stream video from my phone and for a better Netflix app than my smart TV offered. The Roku 4 delivered on these two goals, and a whole lot more. Both my son and I are able to do screen mirroring from our different Android phones and play recorded videos and YouTube videos full-screen on the TV. The Netflix app looks identical to the web-based interface and works quickly and easily.
I connected a USB disk full of my favorite home and purchased videos. The Roku's built-in media player plays them beautifully and the user interface is snappy and good looking. I could also connect to my PC as a DLNA server to stream videos stored on the PC. I have only tinkered with this feature at little, but I plan to play with it more in the future.
The Roku gives access to a dizzying array of apps connected to free and paid services. It's very daunting at first, but some of the possibilities are interesting (like replacing my TV provider subscription with a couple of streaming services).
So far, I'm happy with the Roku 4. It does what I wanted it to do and a bunch more.

Love the Roku 4

I've owned a Roku 2 XS for 2 1/2 years now and decided to step up to the Roku 4 last week.Roku XS was moved to my bedroom and wasn't broken. I am extremely happy with the purchase. The pictures are much better and it seem like the Roku 4 box upscale's the picture quality. I will be buying a 4 k TV in the near future, to get the full benefits of my new box. Being away from the cable companies for almost 3 years now and will never look back. I hope that channels like AMC and Cinamax will sign on with Roku in the near future. I now own 3 Roku boxes in my home.
