No surprises: How refreshing !

Got tired of comparing between Roku, Amazon Fire, Chromecast and AppleTV. We can argue value/price point all day. I have a new 4K TV, and I liked the user interface and I wanted a much better user experience than I was having with my new 4K TV's streaming solution. I have had no fan issues or any problems at all. Done and time to move on.

I purchased the Roku 4 to replace a Roku 3. Overall, the 4 is better than the 3 in terms of speed and picture quality (very noticeable improvement). My only concern is that the GUI has not changed in years, and just feels old.

Best Streaming Device Available Today

Roku 4 is the best streaming experience currently available! I own a Smart TV with Xfinity's X1 cable box and have not been happy with the quality of the picture or the streaming experience using built-in apps like Netflix and amazon video. Prior to my purchase of the Roku 4, I have also owned or tried Apple TV (the new one and the previous generation), Chromecast (both versions), and Amazon box. The Roku 4 is a step above all those. The menu and search are better. The remote is better. The search much more accurate and the ability to search and have results returned for the different choices and prices available is one of its best features. The quality of the stream and the overall picture quality on my regular HD(1080p) TV is second to none! Plus if I ever do upgrade my TV, the Roku 4 is already ahead of its time. Other features that I love: Simple set up. Can be located out of site and the remote still works flawlessly!. I have not experienced fan noise as some have complained about. The menu is user friendly and can be customized. Google Play channel is available so you can buy/rent a movie or TV show from your android phone and watch it directly on your TV and unlike Chromecast, you can use the Roku remote to control it without the need to cast it from your phone and be restricted to using your phone as the remote. There are many more channels available than any other streamer, and there are also other third party channels that you can find online that can be installed with a simple code provided by the channel operator.
The only thing I really wish for is the ability to reassign the preprogrammed content buttons on the remote, as I do not use some of those channels.
Overall: Highly recommended -even if you think your TV is already Smart- Roku 4 is smarter!

I installed about a week ago, I'm still getting used to streaming TV, but the Roku itself rocks. Easy to install, easy to use, easy to test various network configurations.
