I don't have 4K needs yet, so I could have gone with the 3, but figured what the heck. Loved the Roku 2, so I love the Roku 4. Faster, some Apps have better versions for 3+ Rokus, so I get to enjoy those now, too.

A Must have for 4K TVs!

I spent weeks trying to find a unit that would actually send 4K Netflix and other content to my new 4K TV. I had a PS4 with all the apps BUT it didn't support 4K so the streams were all HD. The Roku 4 installed in 10 minutes and automatically found the TV and set it self up without any hassle. I was watching 4K streams of Breaking Bad in no time and the picture is awesome! If you have a 4K TV, then this is a must have item!

Great Features: But a Big One Missing
on February 29, 2016

Love the Roku 4! Ease of use, searching, etc. is great! However, I feel there is one key feature missing among ALL such devices, including this one, and would chsllenge Roku to step out and take the lead.....
The issue is this: like msny of your customers, I still do have a cable subscription. HOWEVER, there is NO single sign on a that I can enter, to get into my Verizon FIOS (my cable provider) channels. Instead, I have to pick the individual channels and sign into them one by one (which seems like an unnecessary pain).
Wouldn't it be possible for Roku to simply build an app for each of the major cable carriers (or even to integrate their existing apps into the channel selection menu), and then allow us to enter our cable subscriptions through that app after a single sign-on? Someone will be the first to do it. Will it be Roku????? Or, at a minimum, allow those of us with cable subscriptions to enter our pertinent account information up-front, and automatically apply that information to the channels we select?

When I got my new Roku player I was very impressed with the high quality and excellant packaging. There is no doubt this is a high quality product. I have owned Roku sticks and the Roku 3 before. As before I am much impressed by the Roku 4 and would recommend it as the best way to view streaming tv and movies. Also since I have a 4K tv this is a good match for it. Once again, great job Roku.

I bought this a bout 2weeks ago and I'm really thinking about returning it . In the middle of movies and shows it constantly starts buffering and most time freezes up . I have the fastest high speed offered from xfinity and hoped that was enough to do the job but apparently not . It's actually more expensive getting the same channels as i had on cable . . There's always something you have to sign up for. Too much trouble ,too expensive and not enough channels .
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Neat Gadget

I would rate this toy as excellent with 5 stars but decided to rate it good with 4 for a simple reason, it doesn't have a component connection. Perhaps this feature doesn't make much sense to some, considering that all electronic devices now have a HDMI output, however, there are some us who have stuck with our old devices for personal reasons. Now, don't take me wrong, I love this little guy. I think that it does a lot and it is very powerful indeed considering that it even has an optical output. I am very happy with it, but can only use it with my up-to-date TV. There are also a couple of other things, though they're not a big deal, they may be annoying to some. For example, there is no turn off feature for the device. One must unplug the HDMI cable and then the power plug in order to put the little guy to sleep. Roku explains that there is no power switch because it is necessary for constant updates, but I have discovered that the machine produces a lot of heat. Now, I don't hear an internal fan cooling it off, so for my peace of mind I rather disconnect it from power, period. Another thing is the initial setup. If you are like me, who gives for granted many things, then you'll probably just follow your instinct and ignore Roku's setup suggestions. DON'T. Follow the steps in the order they are given and you won't get frustrated and smash your new toy.

Set up was very easy. I was frustrated that I was required to input a credit card to set it up. It is extremely easy to use. I downloaded the app also, and it is easy to use. The home screen format is very user friendly. I have no issues with the device. Although, I was hoping for more free tv options. The only decent options require a subscription, such as Hulu or Netflix. If I had multiple accounts, it would be a great central location to access them. I expected more content for free.
