Excellent new features! Very fast!

Fastest Roku I have owned. Love the eco mode which puts the roku to sleep/powers off when not in use. Runs cool, and I have yet to hear the fan come on yet. The footprint is larger than previous models but it's worth it. I love the voice search feature; it is very accurate.

Expecting lots of channels, but...

We have had the Roku 4 for only a few weeks. We heard how much content was offered and how easy to use. Our daughter loaned us her older Apple TV and we've been fairly successful figuring out how to use it. I'm an engineer familiar with computer technology. The "but" is that I'm finding the Roku difficult to figure out. My ratings reflect my current status with the unit. I'm hopeful it will improve. The set up process was confusing because it didn't explain what to do, or in some cases, there was no "next" button to continue the process. The older Apple TV updated software when we first hooked it up and the presented us with many channel options. The Roku had no channels and apparently I have to choose each channel I want on my screen. I can understand not having unwanted channels on the menu, but the choose channel process takes too many "clicks" in my opinion. The remote isn't as easy to use because the enter button is below the scroll keys, not in the middle of scroll key as in most remotes. I resorted to making my cell phone into a remote to save time keying in numbers and letters for "search" and help with the laborious channel selection process. I resigned myself to eventually using online instructions to get more use out of the unit. On the plus side, the Roku is fast, quick to respond, and has a great picture.

I like it but it has frozen a few times.

I like it but it has frozen a few times. I've only had it a few days and it has already frozen up and I'm not sure if it was the unit or the feed, but watching the Academy Awards, it kept crashing.

Roku 4...It mostly works

I got it so I could use Sling TV. Sling freezes. The Roku help chat worked hard to help me fix it. All other streaming works flawlessly. If you expect to use the 4k abilities of the Roku 4, you have to have the newest 4k TV with HDMI HDCP 2.2. Many video formats, including avi, DVD9, ISO, MKV, with 7.1 audio, M2TS, MPEG 2.1 HD-DVD have to be played through a server app like PLEX.

This is my first time using a roku player, and i got to say it has performed great! I like the Smooth stream and ease of use..would be great if the remote had a shut off button but i still give it 5 stars.

The log in is always annoying. But after that is complete, it is easy to get where you like. Search feature is needed.
